    • The present invention protects opals during processing from rhyolite nodules. An opal containing rhyolite nodule is soaked in a heated polyester resin, styrene (100-42-5) solution for 24 hours per 10 grams of nodule. The rhyolite nodule is dried and sawed into slabs, which are soaked in a heated polyester resin, styrene (100-42-5) solution. The soaked slabs are cut into pieces, cabochons are marked out, and the pieces are rough cut into pre forms. The pre forms are soaked in a heated polyester resin, styrene (100-42-5) solution, beneficially for 24 hours. The pre forms are dried and cut into cabochons, which are soaked (preferably for 24 hours) in a heated polyester resin, styrene (100-42-5) solution. The soaked cabochons are then dried, polished, and air cured.

    • The adjustable jig and transfer punch tool that a plurality of pointers wherein each pointer has a central vertical axis, an anvil portion, a mandrel portion and a swivel joint joining the anvil portion to the mandrel portion in a movable manner about the central vertical axis. Each of the anvil portion and the mandrel portion has a transverse orifice therein relative to the central vertical axis. A first and second rods extend in the transverse orifices in a first and second pair of pointers respectively, joining these pointers together such that the pointers are independently movable there along. One of the pointers in the first pair of pointers is also one of the pointers in the second pair of pointers, and the first rod is movable angularly from the second rod about the swivel joint on that common pointer.

    • A tool which has spacer sleeves displaceable on a center punch and hollow shafts are adjacent to one another is intended for rapidly and precisely finding the center of holes and the longitudinal center of slots and channels, so that center marks and linear scribes can be made. The spacer sleeves and the hollow shafts have different diameters, and the hollow shafts are inserted one into the other in telescopic form. When a hollow shaft is fittingly inserted into hole (5) or slot (5) the center of the former or the longitudinal center of the latter can reliably be found by the center punch for making center marks or linear scribes in the slots. The tool can also be used for producing center marks on shafts and pins.

    • A wire insertion tool is disclosed including a manually engageable handle having an impact receiver slideably received on said handle. An impactor is carried on the handle and includes an impactor movable between a rest position and a displaced position and also movable between a load position and a fire position. The impactor presents a first surface opposing the impact receiver when in the load position and a second surface opposing the impact receiver when in the fire position. The second surface is spaced away from the first surface. A compression spring is provided for yieldably urging the impactor toward the impact receiver and toward the load position. A pivot mechanism pivots the impactor against the urging of the compression spring to the fire position as the impactor is moved to the displaced position.

    • A center finding assembly is shown having a pair of longitudinally extending arms which at their ends carry a pair of edge-engaging, angle-shaped end guides that are adjustable with respect to each other longitudinally therealong. The pair of end guides of each arm are adapted to engage and to be secured between opposite edge portions of a substantially symmetrical workpiece to provide an automatic centering of a spool-like indicator element that is slidably pivotally carried by and that cross-connects the arms. The end guides are adapted to receive in an interfitting complementary relation a secondary pair of guides for adapting the assembly to the centering of a circular workpiece. Where measurements are to be taken from the located center, a protractor assembly is adapted to interfit with the indicator element and is provided with secondary arms and cooperating slide guides for accurately aligning it with respect to the workpiece. The protractor has graduated open portions therealong for locating desired distances from the center of the workpiece.

    • A guide having varying diameter holes over one of its surfaces, with each hole having a bottom partition, is provided to receive within the holes the ends of dowels, pins, rods, and the like, to be center held for punching or for sizing. Smaller holes aligned with the varying diameter holes are formed in the bottom partition and emerge from the opposite surface of the guide, the smaller holes being adapted to receive the center punch. The guide can also be positioned with the varying diameter holes facing upward, so that the punch can be inserted through both the larger and smaller holes for accurately aligning the punch to a desired point on a flat surface. Preferably, the varying diameter holes will be of a size to fit appropriate size shanks of drills, so that the punch guide can also be used as a drill holder. Also, a socket can be molded into the bottom of the guide for storing the punch. A first punch for use with the guide has points at both ends and a larger diameter shank therebetween. A removable cap can be placed over one point to provide a tapping surface so that the opposite point can be used for center punching. A second punch has a single point with a flat adjacent thereto for preventing breakdown of the corners when centering holes of lesser diameter than the punch.
