    • A seed meter includes an input port configured to receive a supply of seeds and an output port configured to deliver the supply of seeds for dispensing to a planting area and a seed disk configured to receive the supply of seeds from the input port and deliver the supply of seeds to the output port at a substantially uniform rate. The seed disk has a seed side where seeds flow from the input port, and a vacuum side opposite the seed side. The seed meter further includes a first housing portion surrounding a first portion of the seed disk in a fixed relationship to direct the supply of seeds against the seed disk and a second housing portion. The second housing portion is configured to move between a first position extending to a second portion of the seed disk to operate in concert with the first housing portion to direct the supply of seeds against the seed disk and a second position providing access to at least a portion of the second portion of the seed disk including the lowest most portion of the seed disk.

    • A cutting tool is formed as a sintered body which is made by sintering a mixture of materials at a temperature of below 1500.degree. C. in vacuum or in a rare gas. The mixture of materials consists of titanium powder or titanium alloy powder for a first material, titanium carbide for a second material, and silver powder for a third material. The proportion of the second material to the first material is 5-50 weight %, The proportion of the third material to the total amount of the first and second materials is 0.1-10 weight %. The hardness of the sintered body is preferably more than HRC 35.degree.. Cutlery produced from the sintered material has a remarkable antibiotic activity together with excellent sharpness and durability of the blade edge.

    • The invention relates to an apparatus for automatically bending a strip-shaped blade material to a predetermined configuration. An oscillating arm provided with a movable clamp portion for holding the blade material at the front end portion thereof is attached to a base. A pair of stationary bits are adjacently placed on the base near an end of the movable clamp portion of the oscillating arm at a predetermined distance. The apparatus is provided with an oscillation driving mechanism oscillating the oscillating arm horizontally and a feeding mechanism sending the blade material forward along the oscillating arm. The blade material is bent between one of the stationary bits and the movable clamp portion by oscillating the oscillating arm horizontally.

The method comprises the steps of exposing one end of the rotor while ensuring that the rotor remains safely anchored within the machine, securing to the exposed end of the rotor a plate that is mounted on a support block carried on the lifting platform of a movable lifting device, disconnecting the rotor from all remaining components of the machine to permit the rotor to be slid out of the machine, and moving the lifting device away from the machine while simultaneously controlling the height of its lifting platform to cause the end of the rotor to move along a path parallel to the axis of the rotor and thereby extract the rotor from the machine while supporting the weight of the portion of the rotor projecting from the machine.
