The control system includes a means for determining turbidity of the liquid stream upstream of the filter, a means for determining the rate of pressure drop change across the filter, and a controller for altering the supply of bodyfeed to the filter in accordance with a calculated dose change.

摘要： Disclosed is filter aid formed of a crushed foam glass utilized as a filtering aid for removing suspended materials in a fluid stream by first providing a permeable support with the crushed foam glass filter aid placed adjacent thereto, and directing the fluid stream having suspended materials through the filter. Suspended materials within the fluid stream are captured on the crushed foam glass filter aid, separating the suspended materials from the fluid stream. The foam glass filter aid and the suspended materials may then be removed as a mixture, melted to form a molten glass, fritted to form a frit, comminuted to form a foam glass precursor, mixed with precursor with a foaming agent and heated and crushed to reform the foam glass filter aid. Suspended materials captured on the crushed foam glass filter aid are thus removed from the foam glass filter aid, and the foam glass filter aid to be recycled and used again in the filtering process.

The bilgewater is passed upstream of the cross filter membrane through a fluid-pervious filtration media which has been infused with an absorbtion composition comprising a homogeneous thermal reaction product of an oil component selected from the group consisting of glycerides, fatty acids, alkenes, and alkynes, and a methacrylate or acrylate polymer component. The contaminants are thereby immobilized at the media. The purified output from the infused filtration media is then provided as input for the cross flow membrane filter.

摘要： Naturally occurring lipids of vegetable and animal origin are broken into smaller molecules, and used as dewatering aids. The process of breaking the molecules include transesterification, interesterification, and saponification followed by acidulation. The modified lipid molecules can adsorb on the surface of the particles to be dewatered and greatly enhance their hydrophobicity, which will help increase the rate of dewatering and hence reduce cake moisture. The modified lipids are more effective dewatering aids than the naturally occurring unmodified lipids, possibly because they can more readily form close-packed monolayers of hydrophobes on the surface of the particles.

摘要： A rotating drum pressure differential filter is provided whereby a layer of filter medium is continuously refreshed by a spray applicator device after the layer is utilized to filter components sample medium and a portion of the layer is subsequently scraped to remove sample medium waste from the layer. Methods of filtration using the device are also provided as are systems employing two or more such filters. A spray applicator device useful for refreshing a filter medium on the outer surface of a rotating drum pressure differential filter is also provided as is a retro fit kit useful in modifying existing rotating drum pressure differential filters to enable the continuous formation of a refreshed filter medium layer. The continuously refreshed filter and filter systems provide a minimized down time of the filter and system operations. Multiple-stage filtration processes are also provided and are particularly in the recovery of enzymes from fermentation broths.
