    • A snowboard with retractable braking device includes a board member with a brake member reversibly pivotal through a hole in the board member. When retracted, the bottom surface of the brake member is flush with, or above, the bottom surface of the board member. A retractor, such as a torsional spring, may resiliently hold the brake member in a retracted position. Also provided is a snowboard with an automatically deployable retractable braking device which deploys when the rider falls off a pressure pad affixed to the board member. Also provided is a braking device for boards that glide on snow, and an automatically deployable braking device for boards that glide on snow.

    • A skishoe having a central, downwardly concave arch portion, an upwardly concave toe portion, an upwardly concave heel portion, and a snow gripping blade. The snow gripping blade is pivotable about an axis lying within the camber of the arch portion and extending transversely of the skishoe. A first adjustable stop is provided for limiting the angular deflection of the gripper blade from its fully retracted position in the camber. A second adjustable blade stop is provided for limiting the retraction of the blade into the camber, and a spring is provided for resiliently biasing the blade toward the first adjustable blade stop. Electric drive motors are provided for selectively positioning said stops. Manually operated control means, attached to the body of the user, are provided for controlling said electric drive motors.

    • A brake for skis is described which comprises a frame (12), a pair of arms (1 and 2) made of plastic elastic material, disposed in position corresponding to the rear of each of the skis, a bracket (11) having wings (9 and 10). The bracket is connected to the frame. The brake comprises a rod (3) having rear ends and having two elbows (4 and 5) curved towards the interior, the rod rotating on the elbows (4 and 5) and widening at the end corresponding to the front of each of the skis in the shape of an omega (6). The ends of the arms are inserted within the rear ends of the rod, the bracket having shaped wings (9 and 10). The rod (3) rotates on point (7 and 8). The rod is held in place by the shaped wings, and is fixed to the device used for hooking each ski to boot. The arms are raised to an upper position fitting within the plane of the ski during the normal skiiing operation and are lowered, diverge and penetrate into the snow when the boot becomes unhooked from the ski.

    • In one embodiment, a snowboard stop device includes a bottom portion having a snowboard-contactable side and a ground-contactable side. The ground-contactable side of the bottom portion has one or more protrusions. The snowboard stop device includes a top portion having a snowboard-contactable side, and a curved edge portion joining the bottom portion of the snowboard stop device to the top portion of the snowboard stop device. The snowboard stop device is clippable on an edge of a snowboard such that the snowboard-contactable side of the bottom portion at least partially contacts a bottom side of the snowboard and the snowboard-contactable side of the top portion at least partially contacts a top side of the snowboard. Friction is caused between the ground and the one or more protrusions on the ground-contactable side of the bottom portion such that the snowboard at least partially stops relative to the ground.
