    • A rotatable snowboard binding system allows the front binding to rotate from the riding mode to the skating mode freely, so that a rider can skate and rotate back to the riding mode. When in the skating mode, a fin member protrudes beneath the bottom of the snowboard. This acts on the snow to maintain the rider's direction of travel. The system allows both goofy foot and regular foot riders to safely and easily negotiate lifts and lift lines, and traverse flats by allowing the front binding to rotate between 0° (riding) and 90° (skating) positions. While in the riding mode, bindings and board will function as normal. When the system is utilized in the skating mode, the front binding rotates, allowing the rider to operate the snowboard much like a skateboard. In this rotated position, the fin member protrudes from the bottom of the board.

    • A wireless hierarchical heterogonous pico-net providing communication between smart-phone based analysis and control application and multiplicity of sensors and actuators embedded in the ski equipment is described. The topology of this pico-net comprises two layers of hierarch, where the first layer is configured as a Bluetooth wireless network using a Round-Robin scheduling method and consisting of a single master and up-to seven slaves, and the second layer of the hierarchy is configured as a sub-nets consisting of multiplicity of sensors and actuators and communicating internally using ANT personal area network (PAN) wireless interface, or via a digital wire interface. Such network topology provides deterministic latency of a hierarchy a single-hop Bluetooth network, irrespective of the numbers of sensors and actuators embedded within each sub-net of the second layer of hierarchy. The network latency is upper-bounded by the number of slaves in the first layer of hierarch, Furthermore, the Round-Robin scheduling method is supplemented with the gating-off the slave RF transmission when the slave has no data to send, or when the difference between current sensor samples and the previous sensor sample is smaller then predefined threshold.     • A method and apparatus for controlling of ski vibration consisting an accelerator/actuator sub-system attached to the ski and a adaptive vibration control application residing in the user smart-phone and communicating with the accelerometer/actuator sub-system over Bluetooth radio interface is disclosed. The adaptive vibration control application extracts vibration frequencies and amplitudes from signal received from an accelerometer, separates such frequencies according to their types—bending or torsional, and after thresholding and scaling by the ski calibration parameters and by the user desired ski response, apply such signal to the control loop and consequently to the actuators to provide vibration dampening force.
