    • A ski boot includes a shell and a cuff which is hinged on the shell so as to rotate about a first axis substantially perpendicular to the center-plane of the boot. The ski boot is provided with a cuff locking device which includes: a fixing plate which is located on the shell substantially at the heel of the boot and is provided with a projecting pin which protrudes from the shell while remaining coaxial to a third axis which substantially lies on the center-plane of the boot, and is tilted with respect to the vertical by an angle from 60° to 90°; and a connecting arm which, in the area above the heel of the boot, extends astride between the rear part of the cuff and the fixing plate, while remaining on a lying plane substantially perpendicular to said first axis.

    • A stiffness mechanism for a boot having a shell with a flexibility slot and a cuff pivotally secured to the shell includes a buckle assembly selectively engageable with a portion of the shell for selectively securing the cuff to the shell. A blocking assembly is selectively disposable within the flexibility slot for selectively increasing the stiffness of the shell. A lever assembly is pivotally disposed between the buckle assembly and the blocking assembly. When the lever assembly is moved into a first position, the cuff is secured to the shell and a portion of the blocking assembly is disposed within the flexibility slot to increase the stiffness of the shell. When the lever assembly is moved into a second position, the cuff is pivotal with respect to the shell and the blocking assembly is at least partially disengaged from the flexibility slot to increase the flexibility of the shell.

    • The invention relates to a sports shoe (1), in particular an alpine ski shoe (2), with an adjusting means (3) for varying the stiffness of the sole system (4) as and when necessary. This adjusting means (3) comprises at least one profiled tension element (19) which remains essentially dimensionally stable when forces act on it and which is connected at its oppositely lying end portions to a front sole platform (10) on the one hand and to a rear sole platform (11) of the sole system (4) on the other hand, its middle portion extending freely between the front and the rear sole platform (10, 11). The tension element (19) is mounted so as to be relatively displaceable in the longitudinal direction of the sole system (4) in order to apply adjustable positioning forces relative to at least one sole platform (10, 11), and an individually adjustable tensing force can be expended between the front and the rear sole platform (10, 11) via the tension element (19). This tensing force can be adjusted so that at least one load-induced tendency of a distance (25) between the front and rear sole platform (10, 11) to become bigger is counteracted or a tendential vertical lifting of the middle portion of the sole system (4) is induced.
