摘要： A wrapped package carries a transparent overwrap material and a tear tape attached to the overwrap material for effecting tearing of the overwrap material. The tear tape has a layer of adhesive on one side of the tape substrate for adhesion to the overwrap material and a layer of ink arranged to provide visible markings for the tear tape. The ink is applied on the side of the adhesive which is remote from the tape so that when the tear tape is attached to the overwrap material by the adhesive, the second surface of the adhesive and the layer of ink thereon are in contact with the overwrap material and the markings are visible through the transparent overwrap material without viewing through the adhesive and without viewing through the tape.

摘要： Printed products having a center fold are provided with appropriate product break structure for facilitating opening of the printed products. Such product break structure comprises a crimp structure which may be in the form of impressions or embossments. This crimp structure is provided in the region of one end of the center fold of the printed products to be opened. These crimp structures mutually converge in relation to one another and extend to a common point located on the center fold of the printed products. Each of the printed products can be opened at the center fold by applying or exerting pressure on the folded edge or spine of the printed products at the end of the center fold which is provided with the crimp structure. An opening element can enter the opening thus formed for separating the two halves of each of the printed products.

摘要： A machine for producing self-opening envelopes, feeds precut envelope blanks and advances them, transversely oriented, longitudinally along a path where successively: score lines are impressed in the blank to delineate the flaps from the front panel; the side flaps are folded and adhesive applied to its borders; the bottom flap is folded over the side flaps; a tear strip is advanced from a continuous length transversely across and above the envelope path and severed from the continuous length and depressed into engagement with an underlying envelope along a line delineating the front panel and closure flap, an adhesive having been previously applied to the tear strip; an adhesive is then applied to the closure flap border and the envelopes are then dried, closed and stacked. The tear strip applying mechanism includes a horizontal endless chain positioned above the envelope path and regularly spaced fingers depend from the chain and terminate in tear strip gripping notches. Transversely spaced severing blade and transfer fingers sever a length of tear strip from the conveyor fingers and transfer it to an underlying envelope.
