    • A sheet guiding apparatus, including: a supporting member having a supporting surface which supports a sheet; a first electrode provided in the supporting member; an electric field generating portion configured to generate an electric field between the supporting surface and the first electrode; a guide member which is distant from the supporting surface by a predetermined distance in a direction perpendicular to the supporting surface; a moving portion configured to move the sheet supported by the supporting surface by moving at least one of the supporting member and the guide member relatively to each other in a direction parallel to the supporting surface; and an electric field inverting portion configured to invert a direction of the electric field generated by the electric field generating portion, when a leading end portion of the sheet in a direction in which the sheet is moved has reached a vicinity of the guide member.

    • An apparatus for accumulating and separating laminations including a lamination storage area; a magnetic fanner arrangement for accumulating and magnetically separating the laminations; a transport mechanism; and a mechanical agitation mechanism. The transport mechanism transports at least one lamination from the lamination storage area to the magnetic fanner arrangement and the mechanical agitation mechanism is in communication with the magnetic fanner arrangement and provides a physical agitation to the magnetic fanner arrangement. The magnetic fanner arrangement includes a mounting plate; at least a first and second magnetic pole piece assembly fixedly mounted opposite one from the other and substantially perpendicularly to the mounting plate defining a space therebetween, the space being generally U-shaped, in plan view, having a back wall formed by the mounting plate and a pair of side walls formed by the first and second magnetic pole piece assemblies, the space being used for accumulating the laminations; and a magnetic field generated by the first and second magnetic pole piece assembly polarizing the laminations accumulated within the space and causing the laminations to magnetically repel each other and become physically separated.

    • A system and method of transporting a sheet along a sheet path with electrostatic forces by applying corona charges to the sheet in pulses from high voltage corona generating electrodes in plural arrays extending along at least one side of the sheet path and subjecting the charged sheet to an electrical field pattern, defined by unevenly opposing electrodes spaced on the opposite side of the sheet path to provide an electrostatic force component acting on the charged sheet to move the sheet along the sheet path. The unevenly opposing electrodes may include grounded electrodes adjacent the downstream end of each array and commonly biased electrodes adjacent the upstream end of each array. Three different embodiments are illustrated.
