摘要： Provided is an electrostatic adsorption body capable of exhibiting a high adsorption force, especially with respect to a highly insulative sheet-like object to be adsorbed, such as a cloth, while using an electrical adsorption force. This electrostatic adsorption body, which uses electrostatic force to adsorb an object to be adsorbed, is provided with: a laminate sheet in which a 20-200 μm-thick insulator, a 1-20 μm-thick electrode layer, and a 20-200 μm-thick resin film are sequentially laminated; and a power supply device that applies a voltage to the electrode layer, wherein the resin film at least has a tensile modulus of 1 MPa or more and less than 100 MPa and a volume resistivity of 1×1010-1013 Ω cm, the electrode layer is composed of a bipolar electrode including a positive electrode and a negative electrode, and an object to be adsorbed is adsorbed using the resin film as an adsorption surface due to an electrostatic adsorption force that is generated by applying a voltage to the electrode layer.

摘要： A medium transporting apparatus includes an endless conveyor belt having an outer surface to which a sheet P adheres, at least two rollers, which are a first roller and a second roller, around which the conveyor belt extends. The second roller is located downstream of the first roller in a medium transporting direction. The medium transporting apparatus also includes a backing plate that supports an inner surface of the conveyor belt at a position between the first roller and the second roller. In the medium transporting apparatus, the backing plate includes a hollow-containing portion that is formed at an upstream end of the backing plate in the medium transporting direction. The hollow-containing portion has a plurality of hollows formed therein in a width direction that intersects the medium transporting direction. The plurality of hollows are formed in a support surface that supports the conveyor belt.

摘要： A sheet feeder, which is incorporated in an image forming apparatus, includes an attraction body disposed facing a bundle of sheets, a charger to charge the attraction body to electrostatically attract an uppermost sheet of the bundle of sheets to the attraction body, a liquid supplier to supply a liquid to dissolve discharge products to the attraction body, and a liquid remover to remove the liquid from the attraction body. Further, a method of removing discharge products includes counting the number of sheets fed from a sheet container, determining that the number of sheets reaches a predetermined threshold value, confirming that a current time falls within a predetermined period of time or receiving a turn off signal to turn off a power supply, removing the discharge products from a surface of an attraction body, and resetting the number of sheets or further turning off the power supply.

摘要： A sheet feeding unit that can be incorporated in an image forming apparatus includes an endless belt and a charging member. The charging member may charge the endless belt with an alternating voltage to attract a sheet to separate from multiple sheets and feed the sheet, and may have an electrode contacting the endless belt at an angle thereto and between which a nip is formed. The endless belt and an interior surface of the charging member may define a space across which electric discharge is performed to charge an outer layer of the endless belt. A distance of the gap and a length of the nip in the sheet conveyance direction may define a basic charging region. The distance of the basic charging region may be smaller than a distance of a unit charging region where the electric charge of identical polarity is held on the endless belt.
