    • A method and apparatus for molding a reproducible uniform concrete test cylinder. Concrete is poured into a concrete test cylinder mold. A cap having at least one excretion hole is placed on the top portion of the concrete test cylinder mold. The cap is pressed against the top portion of the concrete test cylinder mold thereby excreting excess concrete through the excretion hole in the cap. After the cap is separated from the poured concrete, the poured concrete is allowed to cure within the concrete test cylinder mold for a predetermined time. Then, the cured concrete is removed from the concrete test cylinder mold thereby producing a uniform and reproducible concrete test cylinder.

    • An apparatus for providing a test sample of concrete from a large poured area of concrete includes a mold suitable for placement within the concrete form, said mold including a continuous sidewall and a bottom wall connected to the sidewall. An insert within said mold is spaced from the bottom wall so that a pressurization chamber is formed between the insert and the bottom wall of the mold. A fluid inlet is formed in the mold in fluid communication with the pressurization chamber and a fluid inlet tube is connected at a first end thereof to the fluid inlet. Preferably, the fluid tube is of a length sufficient to reach the surface of the concrete poured within the form. In one embodiment, a plurality of legs are formed on the insert to maintain the spacing of the insert from the bottom wall of the mold, the legs being separated sufficiently to allow fluid flow between them. In another embodiment, the space between the insert and the bottom of the mold is filled with a noncompressible fluid. The method of producing a test sample from a pour of concrete includes the steps of defining a test sample at the time of pouring the concrete in the mold, maintaining an open space beneath said test sample while said concrete is being poured, and, after the concrete has cured, pressurizing said space sufficiently to force said test sample from the pour. The test sample, once it is removed from the concrete pour, can then be taken to a laboratory and tested by conventional techniques.

    • A sampler for molten metal which includes a chamber having a tubular inlet for introducing the molten metal and an outlet from which air and later molten metal is vented before solidification of the metal takes place.
