摘要： Methods and apparatuses for cooling an electronic device assembly having a heat producing are described. An electronic device assembly includes a heat dissipation member and a dielectric two-phase heat transfer device. The dielectric heat transfer device has an evaporator region thermally attached to a hot region of the heat producing component and a condenser region thermally attached to the heat dissipation member. The dielectric two-phase heat transfer device is fabricated from a dielectric material.

摘要： An inductor includes a printed wiring board (PWB) and a plurality of electrically-conductive heat pipes operatively connected to the PWB. The PWB includes electrically conductive traces electrically connected to the plurality of electrically-conductive heat pipes. The traces and plurality of electrically conductive heat pipes form an inductor winding. A method of manufacturing an inductor includes mounting a plurality of electrically conductive heat pipes to a printed wiring board (PWB), wherein the PWB includes electrically conductive traces to connect the plurality of electrically-conductive heat pipes to form an inductor winding.

摘要： A multi-port storage system includes a dynamo-electric machine with integral rotor inertia forming a primary energy storage system. The dynamo-electric machine has a primary stator winding configured to accept multiple AC input power sources, and has at least two secondary stator windings configured to deliver electric power to multiple loads at different power, frequency and voltage levels. A secondary energy storage system is coupled to the primary energy storage system, and is configured to convert its stored energy to electric power. The dynamo-electric machine is configured to enhance and buffer the secondary energy storage system, and is configured to improve the conversion of the stored energy to electric power. The system may include a step-up transformer responsively coupled to one of the secondary stator windings. The step-up transformer may comprise a single phase or polyphase step-up transformer having internal cooling and electrical insulation between the secondary windings comprising a hydro-fluoro-ether (HFE) vapor and liquid fluid.

摘要： A high frequency inductor filter cooling apparatus and method of use thereof is described. In one embodiment, an inductor is potted in an epoxy-silica mixture to facilitate thermal transfer from the inductor. The inductor is optionally used to filter/invert/convert power. The inductor comprises a distributed gap core and/or a powdered core material. In one example, the minimum carrier frequency is above that usable by an iron-steel inductor, such as greater than ten kiloHertz at fifty or more amperes. Optionally, the inductor is used in an inverter/converter apparatus, where output power has a carrier frequency, modulated by a fundamental frequency, and a set of harmonic frequencies, in conjunction with a notched low-pass filter, a low pass filter combined with a notch filter and a high frequency roll off filter, and/or one or more of a silicon carbide, gallium arsenide, and/or gallium nitride based transistor.

摘要： The invention comprises a phase change inductor cooling system. The cooling system uses a non-conductive refrigerant in proximate and/or in direct contact with an inductor. Heat from the inductor changes the refrigerant from a liquid to a gas phase, which removes heat from the inductor. The gas phase refrigerant is subsequently removed from the inductor to remove heat from the environment about the inductor. The refrigerant is optionally recirculated using the steps of condensing and/or compressing the refrigerant prior to reintroduction into the environment proximate and/or in direct contact with the inductor.

The refrigerant is then circulated to a condenser and then back to the pump.

摘要： The solid insulation transformer has a rectangular core covered with a compressible closed-cell foam to eliminate stress during curing of the cast dielectric material surrounding the core and during operation. Heat pipes are placed between the inner coil and the core to extract heat before the temperature builds up. For safety and to eliminate the need for a separate enclosure, an outer multi-layer casing having an incorporated grounded conductive layer is provided to cover the sides of the cast body. The outer casing prevents explosion if dielectric break down and arcing occur, and reduces the danger of electric shock.
