    • In an apparatus capable of mounting a recording medium for recording content data, an information acquisition section acquires protection information from a server, which indicates whether or not content data supplied from the server needs to be protected. A protection determination section determines whether or not the content data needs to be protected according to the protection information. When the content data needs to be protected, an ID determination section further determines whether or not a unique identification code is provided which uniquely identifies a recording medium mounted on the apparatus. When the recording medium has the unique identification, a recording destination settling section settles that recording medium to be a content recording destination. A data acquisition section acquires content data from the server. An encryption section encrypts the acquired content data using the unique identification code. A data recording section records the encrypted content data in the recording medium settled to be the content recording destination.

    • Compressed entertainment content such as audio or video or both includes additional aspects and operations associated their way. The compressed audio may be used to signal computers such as a telephone or reminder for an appointment. A melody line may be extracted from the audio, or the audio may be used exactly as it is. Another aspect stores traders within the entertainment content such as in MP3. Those traders are used to trigger the system to retrieve other parts of the content to be displayed at the same time that that particular part of the MP3 is being play. The content may include video or text, or maybe links to other content such as broadband content four times sensitive content. Another aspect describes encryption which is keyed to the disk ID to prevent playing oven illegally copied disk. Another aspect reads a specified amount of information then spins down the disk to conserve battery power.

    • A data processing device of the invention has an ID creator unit (300) which adds ID information which is set by a CPU and the number of sectors, and outputs a result of the addition as ID information; a scramble SEED value table (103) which produces an initial scramble SEED value, by using the ID information which is outputted from the ID creator unit (300); a normal scramble filter (104) which produces a scramble SEED value (402) for data to be transferred; a frame jumping scramble filter (301) which holds a scramble SEED value of a jumping destination (401) in preparation for jumping; and a selector (105) which selects one of the scramble SEED value (401) and the scramble SEED value (402) and outputs the selected value to the normal scramble filter (104). Accordingly, the data processing device can perform a scrambling process and a de-scrambling process, without depending on the reliability of the data being transferred.
