    • A liquid additive injection pump has a hydraulic motor comprising a differential piston assembly reciprocable in a housing under the urging of a primary liquid into which an additive is to be injected. The piston assembly includes valves to effect the transfer of a primary fluid charge from the pump motor to a discharge passage and to effect reciprocation of the piston assembly. The motor piston is connected to a central axially disposed piston rod which extends into an additive injection pump cylinder. In one embodiment a floating additive injection pump piston has a stack of displacement control washers engaged therewith and disposed on the piston rod. In another embodiment the pump piston passes through a seal member between a pump chamber and a bypass chamber and an elongated spiral groove formed on the periphery of the pump piston determines the effective displacement of the pump. A spring biased toggle type linkage snaps the motor valves into open and closed positions to provide positive movement of the valve members. Liquid additive is injected into the primary fluid stream at the outlet passage of the apparatus and downstream of the motor mechanism. An external adjustment mechanism is provided for variably presetting the effective displacement of the piston.

    • Apparatus is disclosed for delivering two or more liquids in predetermined ratios, where the liquids are pumped by separate reciprocating pistons, the stroke of each piston being independently adjustable by means of a pivotal piston rod anchor and an adjustable piston arc control mechanism. All of the pistons are interconnected by means of an angularly rotating metering shaft which is in turn connected to a toggle valve mechanism for reversing the piston drive control upon reaching a predetermined amount of angular rotation. Since all interconnected pistons pass through the same angular value, but along independently adjustable arcs of travel, the respective strokes of each piston may be thereby controlled. A novel air valving mechanism for accomplishing the reversal and control of valves which regulate the fluid flow in contact with the respective pistons forms a part of the present invention.

    • Method and apparatus are provided for cleaning heavily soiled surfaces or surfaces coated with strongly adhering organic materials which comprises providing a water stream, either by itself or in combination with cleaning solutions to a plurality of bays at a temperature of at least 190*F and a pressure of at least about 650 psi. A network of lines is provided for carrying and mixing the water stream and one or more cleaning solutions or solvent streams. As part of the network, a manifold serves to distribute the water stream through a plurality of conduits to the bays. Each cleaning solution or solvent stream has a separate line coupled to each of the conduits through separately actuatable valves, so as to allow each of the operators at the bays to independently choose the cleaning mode employed. Each of the cleaning solutions are pressurized to at least the pressure of the water stream. A single pump is employed for each of the streams maintaining the streams substantially at the same pressure, irrespective of the degree to which the stream is in use.
