    • A proportioning dispenser of concentrated chemical mixed in a diluent such as water includes a water valve, an in-line water pressure regulator downstream of the valve and an eductor downstream of the regulator. When the valve is open, water flows to the regulator, and a pressure regulator water flow passes to the eductor. When the valve is closed, no water flows to the regulator, which sees pressurized water only when the water valve is open during a dispensing cycle. More accurate dilution ratios are achieved over a wide range of incoming water line pressures. In an alternate embodiment, a water valve and a regulator are formed in a common housing with the regulator operationally downstream of the valve.

    • A system and method are provided for failsafe storage and dispensing of a liquid material from a container having a storage compartment. A dispensing control unit coupled to the container includes a control valve portion operable to selectively direct a flow path of at least a portion of a pressurized fluid stream received thereby, and a response valve portion coupled to the neck portion. The response valve portion is reconfigurable between first and second states responsive to the pressurized fluid stream as directed thereto. The response valve portion in the first state seals an access opening of the container from the storage compartment, while in the second state maintains the access opening in communication with the storage compartment. The response valve portion is resiliently biased to its first state, whereby release of the liquid material therethrough is prevented in the absence of suitable fluid pressure actuation therefor. The response valve portion in certain embodiments includes a displaceable piston assembly, and in certain other embodiments a deflectable member, for selective reconfiguration between the first and second states responsive to the pressurized fluid stream.

    • An eductor assembly includes an inlet connectable to a high pressure water source useful in firefighting, an outlet connectable to a fire hose and/or nozzle, and a venturi therebetween. An additive inlet communicates with the venturi so that a chemical additive, such as a foam concentrate, is educed into the output stream. A check valve is positioned at the additive inlet to open under venturi flow conditions and remain closed otherwise. An actuator is provided that holds the check valve in its open position while water flows through the eductor assembly under non-venturi conditions to produce a back flow through the additive inlet and ultimately through the additive fluid circuit, including the additive metering valve components. A return element may be disposed within the eductor body to return the check valve to its closed position when the back flow ceases.

    • An anti-backflow eductor has a resilient sealing sleeve disposed on a water port defining blind end tube. The sleeve has a thinner wall cross section at a discharge end to enhance sealing while facilitating increased water flow. The ports in the blind end tube extend into a radial tube flange at the tube's inlet end to facilitate water flow out of the ports between the sleeve and tube. A tapered seat in the housing, together with cross bars in the vents, reduces the air vent cross section and relative motion between sleeve and housing to reduce sleeve wear. The eductor comprises an anti-backflow housing and a venturi housing coupled together for relative rotation but being inseparable under normal conditions to inhibit venturi use without the anti-backflow function of the anti-backflow housing.
