    • In an apparatus for detecting abnormal variation of wheels of a vehicle, a plurality of rotation sensors detect variations in rotation speeds of a plurality of wheels during running of the vehicle. Detection signals produced from the plurality of rotation sensors are converted into arithmetic operation signals by means of a signal converter. An arithmetic operation processor is responsive to the arithmetic operation signals from the signal converter to compute rates of variations in the rotation speeds. The arithmetic operation processor also compares the computed rates of variations with each other to decide whether wheels exist which have a rate of variation abnormally deviating from rates of variations of the other wheels. An alarm unit is responsive to decision signals from the arithmetic operation processor to alert abnormality of the wheels having the abnormally deviating variation rate.

    • A digital alarm that produces a signal when a function that is being monitored falls below a preset alarm point. The monitored function may be the speed of a shaft. Input pulses representing the function to be monitored are fed into the device and the period of the input pulses are compared with the interval of a signal generated by a monostable multivibrator within the device. If the input signal period is greater than the multivibrator interval, the alarm sounds, but if the input signal period is less than the multivibrator interval the alarm is off. When the alarm is driven either off or on, it is held there until the monitored function changes to the complement condition.

    • An improved predetermined speed detector for use in a digital tachometer where signal pulses proportional in repetition rate to engine speed or RPM are available. The signal pulses are used to trigger a monostable multivibrator such that the duty cycle of the monostable output is a function of the signal pulse repetition rate (hence RPM) and the characteristic period of the monostable circuit. The time coincidence of the input signal pulses and the monostable output is then detected to obtain an indication of a predetermined duty cycle and hence engine RPM for any given characteristic monostable time period. Thus by merely detecting the time coincidence of these two signals with a latched AND gate (such as an RS flip-flop or equivalent) engine shift indicators, excessive speed indicators (i.e., horns, flashing lights, etc.) and/or engine disabling devices may be conveniently actuated.

    • An automatic angling machine of the type comprising a line reel, a circuit associated therewith for delivery of pulses in dependence of the rotational speed of the reel, a counter means for recording the fishing line depth, an electromagnetic clutch and an automatic depth control circuit which, in cooperation with the counter means, controls the various functions of the machine by means of the clutch. According to the invention, there is provided a means for activating the automatic depth control circuits and therewith the clutch in order to stop the line reel when the fishing line becomes slack during discharge from the line reel. The means comprises an electric circuit which is connected between the pulse-delivering circuit and the automatic depth control circuits and is adapted to deliver an activating signal when the frequency of said pulses becomes lower than a given value.
