摘要： A method and apparatus for performing an X-ray diffraction measurement with a diffractometer having an X-ray beam directed at a sample and a two-dimensional X-ray detector includes the performance of a physical scan during which the detector is moved through a scanning range in an angular direction about the sample position. To provide a uniform exposure time, the detector, when located at an extreme of the scanning range, is controlled to progressively change the portion of the detected X-ray energy that is used at a rate that maintains a uniform exposure time for each angular position in the scanning range. Alternatively, when located at an extreme of the range, the detector is kept stationary until a desired minimum exposure time is obtained for each angular position, after which the collected diffraction data is normalized relative to exposure time.

The monochromator 60 is configured to be freely removable, and arranged between the sample S and a focal point 2a at which the focusing X-rays 2 diffracted from the sample S are directly focused. At this time, the monochromator 60 is approached to the focal point 2a as closely as possible. The monochromator 60 comprises a multilayer mirror having an internal interplanar spacing which varies continuously from one end to the other end.

摘要： A portable X-ray diffraction apparatus is provided which can be held by a person and on which an image of a spot to be measured can be viewed. The portable X-ray diffraction apparatus includes: X-ray irradiation means that irradiates a sample with collimated X-rays; diffracted X-ray detection means that detects a collimated portion of diffracted X-rays among X-rays diffracted from the sample by the irradiation of the X-rays with the X-ray irradiation means; and signal processing means that processes a signal outputted from the diffracted X-ray detection means. An X-ray diffraction method is used which includes: irradiating a sample with collimated continuous-wavelength X-rays; extracting a collimated portion of diffracted X-rays diffracted from the sample irradiated with the X-rays and condensing the extracted collimated portion of the diffracted X-rays; detecting, using an energy dispersive detection element, the condensed diffracted X-rays; and processing a signal detected by the detection element.

The identification fibers can comprise one or more chemical markers, or taggants, which may vary among the fibers or be incorporated throughout all of the fibers. The disclosure also relates to the method for making and characterizing the fibers. Characterization of the fibers can include identifying chemical markers and correlating the chemical markers and a taggant chemical marker amounts of at least one of the chemical markers to manufacturer-specific taggants to determine supply chain information. The supply chain information can be used to track the fibers from manufacturing through intermediaries, conversion to final product, and/or the consumer.

摘要： Disclosed is a sample handling assembly facilitating a sample holding cell used for XRD analysis. The assembly holds the sample cell upright during sample loading and analysis phases. The sample handling assembly is vibrated, partly by a tuning fork, to allow the powder to flow into the sample cell. After the XRD analysis, a rotating arm holding the sample cell is rotated 180° to orient the sample cell completely upside down so that the sample can be emptied. Also disclosed are jets of air that are pulsed onto the sample cell, and/or into the sample cell funnel-tube assembly, to shake and clean the components.

摘要： An X-ray diffraction method of mapping grain structures in a polycrystalline material sample, where an X-ray detector detects substantially line-shaped segments from beams diffracted from at least some of the grains. A processing device analyzes values received from the X-ray detector and identifies at least the position and the length of the line-shaped segments. The line-shaped segments are paired as originating from diffractions from the same grain and the positions of the paired line-shaped segments are used in determining the crystallographic grain position of this grain within in the polycrystalline material sample. The length of the paired line-shaped segments is used in determining a width of this grain.
