    • The invention relates to a plate heat exchanger composed of a plurality of plates (1), preferably made from sintered ceramic material, in which fluid-flow guide channels (2) are formed as a system of channels in such a way that a substantially meandering profile of the fluid flow is obtained over the surface area of the respective plate, the side walls (3) of the guide channels (2) having a plurality of apertures (4), which lead to turbulence of the fluid flow.The invention also relates to a method for the production of such a plate heat exchanger, in particular by a diffusion welding process in which the plates are joined to form a seamless monolithic block.The plate heat exchanger according to the invention is suitable in particular for applications at high temperatures and/or with corrosive media, and also as reactors.

    • It is known that corrugated plate heat exchangers can have good thermal and hydraulic performance but limitations with regard to operational pressures whilst conventional tube type heat exchangers can achieve high pressure operation but can have high flow pressure losses due to the configuration of such tubes. By arranging a tube stack comprising respective tubes 2a, 3a arranged in layers typically one upon the other with cross junctions 4 between them and intersticial gaps between tubes it is possible to create swirling spinning motion in the flow possibly inside and at least outside the tubes for improved heat exchange with only limited flow restriction. The swirling flow in the heat exchanger matrix outside of the tubes passes along channels formed by the interconnecting intersticial gaps between the tubes and is guided about those tubes for heat exchange. Typically, a multitude of stack layers is combined such that association between the stack layers prevents in operation lateral and vertical movements as well as vibration of the tubes.

    • According to the invention, an apparatus for transferring heat with a target is disclosed. The apparatus may include a body which defines a surface, inlet and outlet ports, inlet and outlet manifold passages, and heat transfer passages. The surface may couple the target with the body. The inlet port may be configured to receive and direct a fluid into inlet manifold passages. The outlet port may be configured to receive and output the fluid. The inlet and outlet manifold passages may be configured to receive and direct the fluid to and from the heat transfer passages. The heat transfer passages may be configured to receive and direct all of the fluid from the inlet manifold passages in one or more directions substantially parallel to the surface and substantially perpendicular the input manifold passages. At least one heat transfer passages may have a plurality of fins on at least one surface.
