摘要： Air conditioner units, bulkhead assemblies, and methods for operating air conditioner units are provided. A bulkhead assembly includes a bulkhead which includes a first sidewall, a second sidewall, and a rear wall extending laterally between the first sidewall and the second sidewall. The rear wall includes an indoor facing surface and an opposing outdoor facing surface. The bulkhead assembly further includes a vent aperture defined in the rear wall, and a vent door movable between an open position and a closed position, wherein in the open position the vent door permits air flow through the vent aperture and in the closed position the vent door inhibits air flow through the vent aperture. The bulkhead assembly further includes a drive assembly connected to the vent door and operable to selectively move the vent door between the open position and the closed position.

摘要： The invention relates to an air purification apparatus. The apparatus is disposed in a window for separating an indoor space and an outdoor space. The apparatus comprising: an inlet chamber having a first inlet, a second inlet and an outlet, wherein the first inlet is operatively open to the outdoor space and the second inlet is operatively open to the indoor space; an air pumping unit for pumping air from the inlet chamber to the indoor space through the outlet, wherein the air is pumped into the inlet chamber through the first inlet or through the second inlet; and a filtering unit disposed upstream of the air pumping unit, for filtering pollutants in the air.

摘要： A system and method for modulating the speed of a fan over a period of time to maintain the space temperature of a room. The system and method involves the use of a CRAC unit or a fan coil unit. In an embodiment, the system is comprised of said CRAC or fan coil unit, a variable frequency drive, fan motor, fan, room temperature sensor, and supply air temperature sensor. Based on the collected room and supply air temperature values, a novel control sequence determines how to best modulate the speed of the fan motor over a period of time. Using this system and control method, the space temperature can be controlled at the desired temperature.

The first temperature sensor is located outside where snow will not collect. The second outdoor temperature sensor is located on the roof of the edifice where snow will collect. Both sensors are housed to protect the sensors from extreme weather conditions, such as sun and wind. The apparatus also comprises a thermostat for receiving the temperature readings from the first and second temperature sensors and manipulating the ventilator. The apparatus also provides a method of preventing ice dam formation on roofs of edifices, comprising the steps of detecting a first temperature reading of the ambient atmosphere, detecting a second temperature reading of the roof of the edifice, comparing the readings to determine whether conditions exist for ice dam formation, ventilating an air space below the roof of the edifice to cool the roof if ice dam conditions are present.

摘要： A fire responsive, closing air vent includes a main frame enclosing an air flow passageway with a hingeable cover connected to the main frame which can open and close. The frame has a mechanism for biasing the cover towards the closed position and a preformed mass of material, e.g. meltable wax positioned at least in part between the frame and the cover to hold the cover in the open position. The material is at least partially moveable (e.g., shrinkable or meltable) in response to an increase in ambient temperature in excess of 140.degree. F. so as to cease from holding the cover in an open position and permitting the weight to close the cover. In one embodiment, the vent is made up of a flat plate and a subframe for insertion into a building structure and is positioned at right angles to the flat plate. In another embodiment, the main frame of the closing air vent has a plurality of air passageways and the cover is capable of covering all of the air passageways.

摘要： A shape memory alloy actuator is disclosed. In one arrangement, a louvered window covering, such as a vertical or horizontal venetian blind, is provided with a thermal actuator to automatically rotate slats forming the louvered window covering between open and closed positions. The actuator includes at least one shape memory alloy spring that, when heated above a predetermined temperature, extends to engage and move a rack that drives a pinion gear. The pinion gear rotates, through a coupling mechanism, a rod extending the length of the blind. A second shape memory alloy spring may be installed to rotate the rod in the opposite direction. The rod intercouples the slats in a manner such that the rotation of the rod rotates the slats in unison between closed and open positions. The shape memory alloy spring may be heated with a current supplied by a controller in response to a predetermined environmental condition. The venetian blind mechanism's manual actuation would not be compromised or interfered with by the thermal actuator of the use of the thermal actuator because the thermal actuator is not physically coupled to the blind except intermittently.
