    • A hygroscopic moisture separating and heating apparatus (20) comprises a main body container (1) having a cylindrical shape, a partition plate (5) provided to define a space together with an inner circumferential face of the main body container (1) and configured to divide the internal space of the main body container (1) into a lower temperature area (30) and a higher temperature area (31), a steam inlet (6) provided to the lower temperature area (30) of the main body container (1), a steam outlet (7) provided to the higher temperature area (31) of the main body container (1), a hygroscopic moisture separator (8) located in the lower temperature area (30) of the main body container (1), and a U-shaped pipe (2) through which heated steam for heating the steam to be heated is fed. The U-shaped pipe includes an advancing part (21), a retracting part (22), and a U-shaped part (23) connecting the advancing part (21) with the retracting part (22). Either of the advancing part (21) and the retracting part (22) of the U-shaped pipe (2) extends through the partition plate across the lower temperature area (30) and the higher temperature area (31).

    • A moisture separator where a corrugated plate 43 is provided with a collecting plate 49 formed to cover a flat portion 74 and an upstream end of a slope portion disposed on a downstream side of the flat portion 74. The collecting plate 74 has an opening which opens to an upstream side in the direction of the wet steam flow S1. The collecting plate 49 is fixed to the slope portion at a base end. Between the collecting plate 49 and a body portion of the corrugated plate, a pocket section 47 and a drain duct section 48 are formed. The moisture contained in the wet steam S1 turns into droplets and enters the pocket section 47 and the drain duct section 48 from the opening of the collecting plate 49 and falls down the pocket section 47 and the drain duct section 48 respectively by gravity.

    • A separator disposed in parallel relationship is provided for separating liquid particles entrained in a gas stream. It comprises zigzag walls (25) having fins (27) each covering each of the convex folds (28) of the walls while forming an open scoop (29) facing the gas flow. Each fin has a portion (27a, 27b) parallel to the wall (25) which supports it and which is spaced apart from said wall upstream and downstream of the fold (28). A rear connection zone (27c) gradually joins the wall and is connected along a line located substantially in the same plane orthogonal to the two walls defining a channel for the gas flow than the leading edge of the following fin (27).

    • Apparatus for separating entrained liquids from a traveling stream of gas or vapor wherein the gas travels through sinuous paths formed by generally vertical vanes of zig-zag crosssectional configuration arranged in side-by-side relationship and provided with vertically extending channels which collect water droplets impinged upon the surfaces of the vanes as the gas travels therethrough. The invention is characterized in that each vane, including the collecting channel therefor, is fabricated from a single sheet of metal formed as by stamping, bending or roll forming into the desired cross-sectional configuration. This reduces the cost of the product and eliminates tolerance problems encountered when an attempt is made to obtain the desired crosssectional configuration by welding.
