    • A drill press has variable speed drive via belts on stepped pulleys that transfer rotational force from the motor to the drill press spindle. Three stepped pulleys connected by two belts are provided in the example. A belt tension roller is bears against one of the belts to provide tension for effective power transfer from the motor to the spindle. The belt tension roller is adjustable along an arcuate slot in an anchor plate and is fastenable in position by an adjustment knob on the belt tension roller. The middle pulley is mounted to vary its position so that tension adjustments on one belt by the belt tension roller result in tension adjustments on the second belt as well.

    • A reversible stern drive system incorporates a continuous drive member looped about a first and second intermediate shaft and a propeller shaft to transmit rotational power from the intermediate shafts to the propeller shaft in either a first or second propeller rotational direction. Rotational direction of the propeller shaft is determined by selective coupling of either a first driven member to the first intermediate shaft by a first clutch or a second driven member to the second intermediate shaft by a second clutch. In a second embodiment of the invention, two separate continuous drive members are employed to drive two concentrically mounted propeller shafts. The first continuous drive member is looped about one of two sprockets on the first and second intermediate shafts and the first propeller shaft such that when one of the sprockets is coupled by a first clutch to the first intermediate shaft, the first propeller shaft rotates in a first propeller rotational direction. The second continuous drive member is looped about the other of the sprocket on the first and second intermediate shafts and the second propeller shaft such that when one of the sprockets is coupled to the second intermediate shaft by a second clutch, the second propeller shaft rotates in a second propeller rotational direction.

The recorder includes a capstan pulley for moving video tape past a recording head and a drive pulley rotated at a predetermined drive speed. The speed change assembly includes a first shaft including first and second pulleys. A second shaft is provided and includes a first and second pulley, the first pulley of the second shaft having a smaller diameter than the first pulley of the first shaft. A solenoid is provided to move the first and second shafts between a first and second position, such that in the first position the first pulley of the first shaft engages the drive pulley and the second pulley of the second shaft engages the capstan pulley. In the second position, the first pulley of the second shaft engages the drive pulley and the second pulley of the first shaft engages the capstan pulley.
