    • A brake shoe for a drum brake includes an arcuate brake table defining radially inner and outer sides. First and second webs are disposed on the radially inner side of the brake table and configured to support the brake table. One or more brake linings are disposed on the radially outer side of the brake table. In one embodiment, the brake table defines a plurality of fins projecting radially inwardly from the radially inner side of the brake table, each of the plurality of fins having a length in a radial direction. In another embodiment, the brake table is a unitary body and is configured at first and second ends and a point intermediate the first and second ends to engage first and second brake linings and prevent circumferential movement of the first and second brake linings relative to the brake table. The brake table may comprise extruded aluminum.

    • A dual leading-shoe drum brake system includes two actuating levers that engage brake shoes. The levers are located between upper and lower anchors, with the bottoms of the actuating levers engaging the lower anchor as a fulcrum. A hydraulic cylinder is arranged to engage the upper ends of the levers to force them apart during braking. A brake shoe is positioned adjacent each lever so that the shoes are forced outward with the levers. The brake shoes selectively engage the upper and lower anchors during braking to receive the braking forces depending on the direction of rotation of the brake drum. The levers preferably float with respect to the backing plate, and the shoes are connected to the lever to float with them. A parking brake lever is arranged to engage an automatic adjusting link to provide dual leading-shoe operation during braking also.

    • A drum brake device is provided that functions as a very stable leading-trailing (LT) type when the service brake is applied, and as a highly effective duo-servo (DS) type with very little fluctuation in stroke when the parking brake is applied, in which strange noises are not generated, and any impact load is not applied to any of the components, thus enabling a lighter device. A shoe clearance adjustment device (12), adjacent to a service brake actuator (8) is suspended between the two brake shoes (2, 3). A parking brake actuator (18) is adjacent to an anchor (9). The middle segment of a long link (11) is pivotable in the middle of the one brake shoe (2). The ends of the link are functionally engaged with the shoe clearance adjustment device (12) and the parking brake actuator (18), respectively. The parking brake actuator (18) is equipped with a stroke adjustment device.
