In a rigid or resiliently flexible coupling or universal joint disposed between two at least approximately coaxial shaft ends 1, 2 and comprising bosses 4, 5 mounted on the shaft ends and connected together by power transmitting means, each of said bosses comprises two axially separated portions 6, 7 clamped together by bolts 12 and thereby connected to the corresponding shaft end, 1, by way of conical rings 15, 16, the boss portion 6 supporting said power transmitting means and the boss portion 7 providing an additional power transmission path between the shaft 1 and the boss portion 6. In the rigid coupling shown, the thickness of the boss portions 6, 7, 9, 10 is such that they can be individually inserted through the gap 3 between the shaft ends 1, 2 thereby eliminating the need for displacement of the shaft ends during coupling installation or removal. The conical rings 15, 16 preferably have at least one cut to assist fitting. The boss portions 6, 9 are spaced by a ring 21 and connected together by bolts 22. In Fig. 2 (not shown), the poss portions 6, 9 are connected by resilient rubber, or rubberclad steel, pins arranged radially outwardly of the boss portions 7, 10 to permit assembly without shaft displacement. In Fig. 3 (not shown), the boss portions 6, 9 are connected by a cross (33) to form a Hooke's joint. The boss portions 6, 9 have alternating axially extending claws embracing the arms of the cross via intermediate layers (34) comprising e.g., elastic material such as rubber and retained by closure members bolted to the cross arm ends. The layers (34) permit small radial shaft misalignment. In Figs. 6, 7 (not shown) the power transmitting means between the boss portions 6, 9 comprises an annular, parallelly or helically corrugated, flexible, single or multi-walled tube radially clamped either between the boss portions on each shaft end, the boss portion 6 being desirably radially cut into sections and retained together by a spring ring, or between the boss portion 6 and a conical ring further to and contacting the corresponding conical ring 15 and desirably radially cut into sections and retained together by a spring ring. This construction permits axial, radial and angular misalignment.

    • A fixation arrangement for attachment of an interchangeable part to a retaining device includes a generally circular shaft attached to or integrated with either the interchangeable part or the retaining device, and a generally circular mounting hole formed in the other, a rotary preventing device to prevent rotation of the interchangeable part and the retaining device in relation to each other, and an actuator for tightening the interchangeable part and the retaining device towards each other. The fixation arrangement also includes a sleeve having a wall thickness that tapers along a direction of a center axis of the sleeve, such that an outer envelope surface and/or an inner bore of the sleeve is conically shaped in the direction of its center axis, and which has at least one slit, and a conical portion formed on the inner circumference of the mounting hole and/or on the outer circumference of the shaft.

    • A shrink disk for the frictional connection of rotating machine parts comprises at least an outer ring and an inner ring, which are connected together at at least one substantially axially extending conical contact surface. In this case, at least the outer ring or the inner ring comprises two axially spaced-apart ring elements. Furthermore, there is provided at least one intermediate ring which is arranged between the two ring elements, is connected to the ring elements in each case at a substantially radially extending conical contact surface and has a plurality of radially extending through-passage bores and/or threaded bores along its circumference. Furthermore, a plurality of adjusting screws is inserted through openings on the outer ring into the through-passage bores and/or threaded bores. The intermediate ring is radially displaceable and the two ring elements are axially displaceable by rotation of the adjusting screws.
