    • A tensioning assembly for connecting an outer component to a shaft.     • A crusher having a pair of spaced rollers mounted on shafts. One of the rollers is moveable with respect to the other roller and the movement is by a pair of screw jacks in conjunction with a pair of toggle assemblies. The moveable roller is supported by moveable bearing housings at ends of its shaft. The toggle assemblies apply a force to the moveable bearing housings to slide each moveable bearing housing along a bearing support and a track located on each side of the crusher. Each roller comprises a pair of roll hubs mounted on the shaft, an expansion ring and a roll shell. Roll wedges are located between the expansion ring and the roll hubs and the roll wedges are drawn together by bolts to provide a radially outward force on the expansion ring which holds the roll shell in place.

    • This disclosure relates to an expandable shaft key for securing the hub of a gear or pulley to a shaft such as the shaft of a motor. According to one embodiment of the invention, an expandable key includes first and second key parts that slidably engage each other along sloping surfaces. Each of the key parts has a threaded bore. A threaded rod constitutes an intermediate member interposed between the first and second key parts. The threaded intermediate member has coarse screw threads where it engages the bore of the first key part and fine screw threads where it engages the bore of the second key part. Upon rotation of the threaded intermediate member, the pitch differential between the fine and coarse threads causes the first and second key parts to be drawn together, whereby the inclination of the sloping surfaces will cause the key assembly to expand in a radial direction. The axes of the two bores are radially displaced as the two key parts are drawn together and the ends of the threaded intermediate member are thereby forced into misalignment. The deformation of the intermediate member produces a force that resists the accidental disassembly of the key parts which might otherwise result from normal machinery vibration.

    • A rotary body fixing device capable of mounting and removing a rotary body on a shaft easily and rapidly. The device has inner and outer elastically deformable rings and a pair of oppositely tapered rings for wedging between the inner and outer rings in a clamping position. Extraction bolt holes 4F for threaded engagement with extraction bolts 7 are formed axially through one tapered ring 4. The extraction bolts 7 come into abutment at their tip ends against an end face of the other tapered ring 5 to move both tapered rings away from each other. In an axially medial part of the outer peripheral surface of the inner ring 2 and of the inner peripheral surface of the outer ring 3, annular grooves respectively form stepped portions on both sides of the annular groove. At or adjacent the opposite ends of the paired tapered rings, retaining flange portions engage the stepped portions when the rings are displaced outwardly a predetermined distance from the clamping position so that outward displacement of the retaining flange portions is limited by the stepped portions. Registering annular cylindrical flats are provided between the flanges and the tapered surfaces of the tapered rings, and between the grooves and the tapered surfaces of the inner and outer rings.
