    • A carburetor 9 for feeding separate lean and rich channels 12, 13 of an engine intake duct 14 comprises a body 20 having a mixing passage 22 with an air intake side 24 and an engine outlet side 26. A throttle shutter 16 is rotatable about an axis transverse the mixing passage, and a partition 10 is located within the mixing passage upstream of the throttle shutter. The downstream edge of the partition 10 is adjacent the throttle shutter axis 16A whereby in use of the carburetor the partition defines an extension of the lean and rich channels upstream of the throttle shutter, the partition thus providing substantial isolation between the lean and rich channels for all rotational positions of the throttle shutter. In a preferred embodiment a choke shutter 17 is located upstream of the throttle shutter and is rotatable about a further axis 17 A transverse the mixing passage, the upstream edge of the partition being adjacent to the axis of the choke shutter.

    • A carburetor for an internal combustion engine includes idle passages (22A and 22B) extending through the carburetor body adjacent each cylinder bore (18A–18-D) of the carburetor, such that the idle passages bypass the cylinder bores. A common fuel flow metering circuit (30) is in fluid communication with at least two of the idle passages for joining the fuel flowing from the idle passages and redistributing the fuel back to the idle passages. A metering valve (40) is positioned in the common fuel flow circuit for metering the flow of fuel through the common fuel flow metering circuit, so that equal distribution of the fuel is delivered to the cylinders of the engine in spite of possible unequal flow of fuel being received through the idle passages.

    • A carburetor has a main throat, a separate constant level chamber for fuel, means to introduce liquid fuel into said constant level chamber, a separate injection chamber, a nozzle through which fuel passes from the constant level chamber to the injection chamber, a needle of variable cross section movable in that nozzle to vary the total cross section of said nozzle, and means by which the injection chamber communicates with the throat. A first lower cover plate has openings therethrough and a second upper cover plate has openings therein that communicate with the openings of the first cover plate. Some of the openings of the second cover plate are disposed in and extend laterally of the lower face thereof. An atmospheric pressure corrector is carried by the upper plate to open and close one of those openings according to atmospheric pressure. A fuel richness corrector operates through one of the openings to adjust the richness of the fuel mixture. An air inlet to the throat is formed on the second plate, and a control shutter is rotatably mounted in that inlet.
