    • An injection pump for diesel-cycle internal combustion engines includes a casing (1), a cylinder (6) within the casing and communicates, via at least one radial aperture (51), with a fuel intake chamber (3), and a piston (7) sealedly slidable within the cylinder and which, by external command, can also rotate about its axis to assume different angular orientations about a reference plane. In its jacket, a helical groove (72) opens into an axial groove (71), wherein the top, or roof, of the piston (7) is connected via a hole (77) to two channels (178, 179) provided at different levels in the piston jacket. The first (178) is in an intermediate position between the top of the piston and highest part of the groove (72) and during the reciprocating movement of the piston (7) faces a first radial aperture (52) provided in the cylinder and communicates with the fuel intake chamber (3), the second (179) is at a distance from the top of the piston such that, when in the top dead center position, it mates with a radial aperture (53) provided in the cylinder and communicates with the fuel intake chamber (3).

    • A fuel injection pump for internal combustion engines is proposed, in which to attain particularly quiet operation of an engine that is operated with direct injection, the fuel delivery is subdivided into a preinjection and a main injection; this injection is attained by annular groove, coinciding with one another, on the pump piston and pump cylinder, and a connecting groove connecting the coinciding annular grooves with a relief opening. After a partial stroke in the region of coincidence of the annular grooves with one another, the communication with the relief opening is interrupted again. The preinjection quantity can be kept particularly small here, with a short interval between the preinjection and the main injection; in combination with a two-spring-holder injection valve, this particularly small preinjection quantity can be kept constant to a great extent even at varying engine speeds, to attain an optimal reduction in combustion noise at various engine speeds.

    • A solenoid valve unit is provided in the middle of fuel supply path that leads to a compression space in an injection pump main body, and the fuel injection quantity is adjusted through the open and close control of the solenoid valve unit. In this fuel injection system, the plug valve is moved until it is seated on the valve seat during the preliminary injection that is performed prior to the main injection. An arrangement for leaking the fuel from within the compression space is provided in the injection pump main body and the time period during which the fuel in the compression space is leaked via the arrangement for leaking and the time period during which the fuel supply path is restricted with the plug valve being seated on the valve seat are combined to stabilize the movement of the plug valve. Consequently, an optimal small quantity is achieved for the preliminary injection that is nearly constant regardless of the rate of rotation of the engine. Also, if a drive pulse that closes the fuel supply path over the period during which the fuel is leaked is supplied to the solenoid valve unit, the solenoid valve unit needs to be operated only once and stable injection characteristics are achieved from the pilot injection through the main injection.

The fuel injection pump pumps a quantity of fuel that is divided into a preinjection quantity and a main injection quantity. On a jacket face, this pump piston has known oblique grooves for the high-pressure pumping diversion process, and also a recess, which cooperates with an annular groove in the cylinder bore and with a control opening which discharges into a low-pressure chamber, and on its end face the piston has a cutout formed by two different, deep shoulders; the cutout is recessed within the annular groove continuously and cooperates with a first control opening that discharges into the low-pressure chamber. During the high-pressure pumping phase, depending on the rotary position of the pump piston, the pump work chamber can be relieved via the annular groove, the recess, and the control opening; this interruption in high-pressure pumping can be limited to the partial-load or the full-load range, depending on the embodiment.

    • A fuel injection pump for internal combustion engines, having a pump piston that reciprocates in a cylinder liner inserted into a pump housing. The pump piston and housing encloses a pump work chamber, and the pump piston has a control recess on its jacket face that communicates with the pump work chamber through a conduit. An oblique groove extends at a predetermined angle from the axis of the pump piston in the jacket face thereof and forms control edges. An annular slide is axially displaceable on the pump piston and includes two diametrically opposed diversion bores. To interrupt the high-pressure pumping to provide a pre-injection quantity and a main-injection quantity, first, second and third pockets are additionally machined into the jacket face of the pump piston. These pockets cooperated with pockets machined in the annular slide and with the control edge formed by the lower face edge of the annular slide to control the fuel flow.
