    • A throttle valve control device having a traction control system includes a first control system which controls a throttle valve in accordance with movement of an accelerator pedal, a second control system which, upon a traction control of the vehicle, enforcedly pivots, with an aid of an electric motor, the throttle valve in a direction to reduce its open degree. An accelerator position sensor issues a first signal which represents the operation position of the first control system and an actuator position sensor issues a second signal which represents the operation position of the electric motor. A first device derives a first open degree of the throttle valve from the first signal and a second device derives a second open degree of the throttle valve from the second signal. A third device selects the smaller of the first and second open degrees of the throttle valve. The second control system is operated in accordance with both the second signal and the selected smaller open degree of the throttle valve.

    • The idling system reduces the speed of an engine having a speed governor that is used to power an air compressor, a pressure washer, or another load device which outputs pressurized gases or fluids. The idling system includes a pressure or flow switch which is activated in response to a sensed pressure or fluid flow respectively in the load device. When the switch is activated, an electromagnet is energized through a diode rectifier by the engine alternator or other power source. The energizing of the electromagnet creates a magnetic field that attracts a governor lever arm on the engine's mechanical speed governor. Since the lever arm is interconnected with the throttle plate of the engine carburetor, movement of the lever arm rotates the throttle plate to reduce the engine speed to an idle speed.

    • An engine-powered work tool includes an air-cooled engine having a crank shaft, an engine output controller, a wind governor including a governor plate, and a throttle-opening assisting mechanism. The engine output controller includes a throttle valve shaft angularly rotatable about its axis for controlling a rotation speed of the crank shaft based on the angular rotation of the throttle valve shaft. The governor plate is connected to the throttle valve shaft for receiving cooling air generated by a cooling fan connected to the crank shaft. The wind governor controls angular rotation of the throttle valve shaft based on an amount of the received cooling air. The throttle-operation assisting mechanism causes the throttle valve shaft to angularly rotate in a direction to increase the output of the engine within a prescribed rotation speed range, the operation by the throttle-operation assisting mechanism being predominant over the control by the wind governor.
