    • The lock cylinder comprises a cylinder housing and a cylinder core having at least one rotatable magnetic tumbler supported therein, wherein in the cylinder core at least one axially slidable bolt member is provided, whose slidability is controlled by the rotatable magnetic tumblers. The bolt member has two control tips positioned at opposite ends thereof, which are guided with two control surfaces mounted, so as to be nonrotatable with respect to the cylinder housing and positioned opposing each other. Thus a positively actuated control of the bolt member is provided, which is independent of the sliding force, which would be provided by a spring. One of the control tips is slidable against an elastic restoring force, whereby, after a certain limiting force has been exceeded, a relative displacement between the control surfaces of the bolt member occurs so that a subsequent rotation of the cylinder core without collateral axial displacement of the bolt member is made possible.

    • A lock has a cylinder formed with a keyhole and rotatable in a housing. At least one tumbler is displaceable into the keyhole into engagement with a bit of a key which can position the segments of the tumbler so as to allow rotation of the cylinder in the housing. In addition the key is provided with a magnet that can coact with a magnetic rotor to rotate this magnet into a position that aligns a notch on the magnet or a control wheel controlled thereby with a retaining element. The housing is formed at its back end with a recess in which one end of the retaining element is urged by a weak spring. Only when the notches on the rotors are aligned with tabs on the retaining element can this element be displaced out of the recess in the housing and allow rotation of the cylinder relative to the housing.

    • A locking and control device has at least one tumbler in which a control magnet is arranged, and which is rotatable between two extreme positions. The tumbler is movable by means of an operating magnet carried by a functional member to an operative position in which a protection bolt can be inserted through an excision of the tumbler. A magnetic compensatory device comprises a further magnet carried by the functional member, with the compensatory magnet and the operating magnet arranged so that in the operative position they are located on either side of the control magnet but in a plane transposed along the axis of rotation of the tumbler. The compensatory device exerts a repulsive force contrary to the operating magnet, with the result that the control magnet is urged to said operative position which is intermediate said extreme positions. In a non-operative position the tumbler has a contacting surface disposed adjacent a contacting surface of the bolt, to prevent withdrawal of the latter, and the contacting surface of the tumbler is formed with at least one detent groove. The bolt can enter into detent engagement with said groove to prevent unauthorised rotation of the tumbler when in a position separate from the operative position, and the tumbler is associated with a security-type magnet arrangement which tends to shift the tumbler into the position of detent engagement.

    • An electromechanical cylinder lock includes an outer lock shell and a rotatable lock barrel located therein which is controlled by dual locking features. A side bar or fence selectively blocks and permits rotation of the barrel with respect to the shell in response to insertion of a key into a keyway in the barrel. The barrel includes a plurality of electromechanical locking members with grooves formed therein, the locking members being movable to a position in which the grooves are aligned to accept the side bar or portions thereof. An electromagnetic core disposed in the barrel is energized in response to a control device which determines whether an attempt to open the lock is authorized, the magnetic core rotating the electromechanical locking members to a desired position relative to the side bar to allow rotation of the barrel. The locking members may be flat disc-shaped elements with a portion cut out to form a groove. As the electromagnetic core (or other electronically powered drive mechanism) and the locking members are substantially entirely contained in the barrel, mechanical cylinder locks may be retrofitted to form an electromechanical lock by removing and replacing the purely mechanical barrel with the electronically driven barrel.
