    • The invention is a joint cover assembly and related method for covering a gap adjacent an edge of a panel that covers a sub-surface. The assembly includes a molding having a foot, a first arm, and a second arm. The foot is positioned along a longitudinal axis of the molding, wherein the first arm, and optionally the second arm, extend generally perpendicularly to the foot. A tab depends from at least one of the first and second arms. At least one of the tab and the foot engage a track in order to position the assembly over the gap. The method includes placing the foot in the gap, pressing the respective panel engaging surfaces into contact with respective panels, and configuring at least one of the tab and the foot to cooperate to retain the molding in the gap when the assembly is installed.

    • An anti-skid plate is to be fixed on a corner of a step of a stair. The corner is formed with a generally L-shaped notch which has a generally horizontal notch portion and a generally vertical notch portion that form an angle of about 90null therebetween. The anti-skid plate includes a rectangular, generally horizontal plate portion for engaging fittingly the horizontal notch portion of the notch in the corner of the step of the stair, and has a plurality of upwardly extending integral upper ribs that are generally parallel to the vertical notch portion and that have round top ends, and a rectangular, generally vertical plate portion that has a top side formed integrally on an outer side of the horizontal plate portion and that is mounted to engage fittingly the vertical notch portion. A lower rib projects integrally and downwardly from the horizontal plate portion in a direction that is generally parallel to the vertical plate portion. The lower rib is to be embedded within the step, and has an enlarged lower end for preventing removal of the anti-skid plate from the step.

    • A returned stair tread for use on an open stairway or an open portion of a stairway is shown. This returned stair tread comprises a stair tread constructed of wood and a return nosing fitting flush against its side edge, the stair tread and nosing being slidably connected to one another by tongue and groove construction. The returned stair tread also comprises means for securing the nosing to the stair tread, including rigid securing means joining the nosing to the stair tread only in the region containing an exposed joint located at a forward end portion of the tread forward of the slidably connected construction. The returned stair tread further comprises a non-rigid securing means joining the nosing to the stair tread along the length of their mutual juncture, which non-rigid securing means is adapted to secure the continued contact of the nosing and stair tread while permitting each to expand and contract in width over a range due to changing ambient temperature and humidity conditions.
