摘要： A dirt removal and piling machine is ideally suited for use in cleaning and piling individualized and non-uniformly shaped workpieces, preferably sugar beets but also potatoes, other tuber crops, and even with aggregate rocks for a tilting receiving station. A further aspect of the present machine includes a workpiece unloading or receiving station which can tip sideways after a dump truck unloads the workpieces and longitudinally drives therethrough. In another aspect, the machine also includes a cleaning station having rotatable rollers, an underlying dirt conveyor and a moveable dirt dumping conveyor, hopper or bucket adjacent an end of the dirt conveyor and external to the rollers. Furthermore, another aspect of the machine includes an automatic and/or robotic sampling arm which is operable to remove a tuber crop workpiece sample and automatically package the sample after the sample has moved through a cleaning station.

摘要： The invention relates to a system and method for containing and mitigating spills and leaks from pipelines. According to one embodiment, the system comprises a pipeline for transporting a liquid; a barrier layer comprising material impermeable to the liquid; a trench excavated with sufficient depth and width to accommodate at least the pipeline as well as the barrier layer; two berms; and backfill. The berms are substantially parallel and positioned on either side of the trench. The barrier layer is disposed to cover the trench and berms, reaching at least the ridgeline of the berms. The pipeline is disposed within the trench above the barrier layer. The backfill is placed on top of the pipeline and the barrier layer, and the backfill is graded to form a grade bridging the ridgelines of the berms.

摘要： A non-straight sensor array within a gravity field, within a surface and cyclically surrounding a medial axis. The sensor array includes rigid bodies holding gravimetric tilt sensors, the rigid bodies being connected by flexible joints. The flexibility of the joints is constrained to two degrees of freedom. The shape of the path, the surface, and the medial axis are measured in at least two dimensions, using the tilt sensor data and the geometrical constraints of the joints. The cyclical geometry permits simultaneous measurement of lateral and axial deformations in deployments varying from axially vertical to axially horizontal, as well as improved fit of the array to surrounding surfaces. The field of use includes geotechnical measurements of soil and civil structures.

摘要： A trench paver attachment which can be used to backfill a trench to varying grade heights, the attachment being designed primarily for use on paved roads. The attachment in one configuration is able to backfill a trench with crushed rock and cement or the like to a suitable height corresponding to the base of the adjacent pavement, and in another configuration it is able to apply base, binder and top in whatever lifts are called for. The attachment may be adjusted to allow for the paving of any trench from an 18″ width up to a 96″ width, which widths may be varied by the operator during the course of paving the trench.
