    • An apparatus for bitumen coating particulate material comprises a chamber (2) having baffles or deflectors (4), a particulate material inlet (8) and a particulate material outlet (10). In use, a foamed bituminus formulation is directed into the chamber via an outlet (12) and an air stream is directed from an inlet (14) towards the bituminous formulation, to atomise the formulation. The atomised formulation then contacts particulate material which passes in a convoluted path through the chamber via inlet (8). Prior to contact with the atomised bituminous formulation, heated air which passes into the chamber via a second gas inlet (16) heats the surface of the stone. After the particulate material has been coated it is discharged via outlet (10) for subsequent use.

    • A combination direct/indirect fire drum heating and mixing apparatus includes a frame having an inner cylindrical drum rotatably supported thereto and having an aggregate input in one end thereof and an aggregate output at the other end thereof. A concentric outer drum is mounted around the inner drum and has an aggregate input from the material output of the inner drum and an aggregate output therefrom at the other end thereof, so that aggregate materials can pass through the inner drum and then pass between the inner and outer drums. A burner is mounted to one end of the inner cylindrical drum for directing a flame thereinto and includes a burner blower for blowing atmospheric air under pressure into the burner. An exhaust gas outlet duct operatively connects the exhaust gas from the inner cylindrical drum to the atmosphere or particulate-removing apparatus, while an exhaust gas feedback siphons vapors and gases emitted in the space between the two drums for incineration through the system burner. An asphalt cement injection nozzle injects asphalt cement into the aggregates passing through the concentric outer drum. A second aggregate feed can direct recycled asphalt pavement materials into the concentric outer drum and a dust recovery zone may be provided along with rotating screws for moving the final product discharge or the collected dust.

    • Truck-transportable manually positionable apparatus for blending and dispensing a mixture of liquid asphalt emulsion and sand to fill cracks in pavement includes a support on which a sand hopper and blending/dispensing device are mounted. The device includes a housing having a rotatable sand impeller therein driven by a pneumatic motor and having a valved sand inlet port above the impeller, a pressurized air inlet port between the sand port and impeller (supplied from the same source as the motor), a mixture outlet port below the impeller, and a valved emulsion inlet port between the impeller and mixture outlet port. Gravity fed sand from the hopper is forcably propelled through the housing of the device toward the mixture outlet by the impeller and compressed air, and is mixed with emulsion just prior to exiting the mixture outlet port.
