摘要： The apparatus for combining tobacco sheets (3, 4) comprises a first shaft for carrying a first bobbin (30) of tobacco sheet (3) and a second shaft for carrying a second bobbin (40) of tobacco sheet (4). The apparatus also comprises a splicing unit (2) for combining an end portion of tobacco sheet from the first bobbin (30) to a head portion of tobacco sheet from the second bobbin. The splicing unit comprises a cutting device (20) for cutting the tobacco sheets such as to provide complementary cuts to the tobacco sheets (3) from the first bobbin and from the second bobbin (4), a dispensing device (23) for dispensing water to at least one of the tobacco sheets (3, 4), and a combining device (24) for applying force onto the tobacco sheets thereby producing a spliced tobacco sheet.

摘要： An unwinding machine for wound rolls, e.g. of paper, has holders which can be swung alternately into the unwinding and the splicing positions. A new roll in the splicing position has its leading end engaged by a groove roller which draws the new web between itself and the old web during continued unwinding thereof and a blade roller is pressed against the groove roller to cut through both webs and attach an adhesive strip across the trailing end of the old web and the leading edge of the new web. The residue of the old web continues to be wound up on the blade roller while a small residue of the new web is picked up by the groove roller and carried away.

摘要： A cutting blade is mounted on an articulated arm for movement into location adjacent a new core and a free running span of the web on a winding machine. An adhesive strip is applied to the new core and then the core is rotated. A pressure roller on an opposite side of the web from the new core then urges the web into engagement with the surface of the new rotating core. As the adhesive strip rotates into contact with the moving web, it causes the web to be deflected into the knife which results in severing of the web. The leading edge of the severed web is maintained adhered to the adhesive strip so that no fold back of the leading edge occurs as the web continues to wind on the new core.
