摘要： A snow vehicle is disclosed comprising a vehicle frame, a propulsion unit coupled to the frame, and a front ski steered by a steering mechanism. The snow vehicle has a chain coupling the sprocket of the propulsion unit and a chain tensioning device to take up the chain tension. The chain has a chain guide positioned below a lower run of the chain which directs the chain towards an upper run of the chain.

摘要： A method for accelerating a vehicle from rest, including controlling an engine according to a first control strategy; receiving a mode indication selecting a launch control mode for accelerating; controlling the engine according to a second control strategy; in response to greater than zero accelerator position, controlling to increase throttle valve opening and engine control operational conditions to limit engine torque output; while in the second control strategy, receiving an indication to end control by the second control strategy; and in response to indication, controlling according to the first control strategy causing the vehicle to accelerate from rest, the first acceleration rate greater than the second rate corresponding to accelerating from rest after sequentially controlling according to the first and second control strategies; the second acceleration rate corresponding to accelerating from rest by controlling according to the first control strategy without previously controlling according to the second control strategy.

摘要： An apparatus to convert a motorcycle into a snow bike includes a front ski assembly with a universal fork clamp assembly and a universal axle clamp assembly. The universal fork clamp assembly is configured to: fasten to fork tubes of the motorcycle from a back side of the front ski assembly; is selectively positionable relative to a spindle body; and is configurable to accommodate a range of fork tube diameters and fork tube spacings. The universal axle clamp assembly is mechanically moveable relative to the spindle body, selectively tightenable to accommodate a range of axle diameters, and selectively positionable to accommodate axles that vary by distance from the fork tubes. The universal axle and fork clamp assemblies couple to an upper portion of the spindle body, and a lower portion of the spindle body couples to a spindle of at least one ski.

摘要： An improved snow vehicle ski wherein a rear wheel is disposed relatively close to a spindle pivot point, allowing the snow ski to rotate around the spindle pivot point with less steering effort and still providing for proper weight distribution and ski balance. A front wheel is disposed forwardly of the rear wheel and the spindle pivot point. Placement of the front wheel is important as the front wheel encounters obstacles first and needs to protect the rest of the ski and its associated suspension assembly parts by absorbing impact and shock to such parts. The front wheel location is also important for proper weight distribution, handling and steering of the machine. The front wheel also acts as a lever, as it helps turn the snow ski around the spindle pivot point, providing for less steering effort by the user. Further, the wheels can have a rubber surface or a hard and sharp surface. The wheels can also combine a hard inner core surrounded by a deformable and shock-absorbing rubber surface. The snow vehicle ski can be used with a snow vehicle assembly having one or two skis.

摘要： A snow bike includes a lightweight engine and transmission to power an endless drive belt (track) around a suspension under the rear of the frame. A unique aspect of the snow bike is that the front/rear weight distribution places less load on the ski and more load on the track, thereby providing lighter steering forces and increased track traction. The snow bike is steered by a fork mounted to a tubular/sheet frame that pivots around an axis and is connected to a ski. The drivetrain directly links the transmission to the track drive wheel, thereby powering the endless track. The centerline of the transmission drive shaft falls to the aft of the drive wheel of the track. This, combined with how the forward track suspension is attached, allows the mass of the track assembly to be more centralized, positioning the center of gravity of the bike nearer to the rider.

摘要： A track system for traction of a vehicle (e.g., a snowmobile, a snow bike, an all-terrain vehicle (ATV), an agricultural vehicle, etc.). The track system comprises a track and a track-engaging assembly for driving and guiding the track around the track-engaging assembly. The track system may be configured to enhance traction of the vehicle on the ground, such as by maintaining proper contact on the ground when the vehicle is leaned (e.g., for steering and/or over uneven terrain) and/or when the track system is subject to other loading that would otherwise tend to reduce tractive forces that it generates. For example, the track system may be configured such that, when the vehicle travels on the ground, a surface of the track-engaging assembly in contact with a bottom run of the track is movable relative to a frame of the vehicle to change an orientation of the surface of the track-engaging assembly in contact with the bottom run of the track relative to the frame of the vehicle.
