    • An air-conditioning system with a refrigerant circulation circuit, which has improved control precision for maintaining a compartment temperature and improved response characteristics. The refrigerant circulation circuit includes a variable displacement type compressor, the discharge capacity of which is controlled by a control valve. The control valve detects a differential pressure between two pressure monitoring points in the refrigerant circulation circuit as an index for estimating the refrigerant discharge capacity of the variable displacement type compressor and performs feedback control of the discharge capacity of the compressor such that the differential pressure converges to a set differential pressure. A controller determines or recomputes the set differential pressure based on information from a mode switching unit or an air-flow-rate switch and instructs the control valve to change the set differential pressure accordingly. The switch information from the mode switching unit or the air-flow-rate switch signals the controller of a sudden change in the cooling load before the occurrence of the change or at the same time as the change occurs.

    • In a refrigerating cycle with a by-pass line 5 detouring the condenser 2 in an auxiliary heating mode the amount of circulated refrigerant is controlled in accordance with load, etc. so that the heating can be suited to such conditions. A regulator 20 for controlling the outlet pressure of the evaporator to a fixed level allows to use an evaporator 4 having ordinary pressure resistance. An accumulator 6 for temporarily storing low-pressure refrigerant liquid is provided between the outlet of evaporator 4 and a compressor 1. In an auxiliary heating mode the amount of the circulated refrigerant passing the by-pass line 5 is controlled by the accumulator 6. Simultaneously the regulator is controlling the outlet pressure of the evaporator to an essentially fixed level.
