摘要： A laser welding method and system join portions of two workpieces of thermoplastic material by clamping together the portions of the workpieces to be joined, against a baseplate engraved or etched to form an image to be replicated in the joined portions of the workpieces, and applying laser radiation to the portions of the clamped workpieces to be joined, to melt those portions of the clamped workpieces to be joined and to replicate the image in the joined portions of the clamped workpieces when the material solidifies. The thermoplastic material of the workpieces can be optically transparent but absorbs a portion of the laser radiation, so that both workpieces are heated and melted by the laser radiation. A portion of the melted workpiece material flows into the engraved or etched portions of the baseplate, forming an embossed surface on the lower surface of the area where the workpieces are joined.

摘要： A fitting for use in fusion welding mating thermoplastic components includes a weld bead chamber to capture and conceal a bead formed as a result of the fusion weld. The weld bead chamber integrates the bead into the fitting so that the joined parts have a finished look without mechanical polishing or grinding of the completed piece. A stop ledge included in the weld bead chamber prevents over insertion of a pipe or other component into the fitting. A view window in the fitting permits inspection of the finished bead.

摘要： A bottle/cap assembly with sweep-and-drain action includes a bottle, a cap and a sweep-and-drain mechanism. The bottle has in series, from the bottom to the top, a closed bottom, a body sidewall, a cylindrical neck sidewall, and an open top. The cap is configured and dimensioned to be rotatably received about the neck sidewall and includes a closed cap top to close the open top and prevent egress of liquid from within the bottle. The sweep-and-drain mechanism includes (i) a circumferentially spaced plurality of vertically extending grooves or slots in the bottle extending downwardly from the open top through said neck sidewall, and (ii) a circumferentially spaced plurality of radially extending vanes or wipers projecting downwardly from the closed cap top towards the open top. When the cap is disposed on the bottle with the vanes or wipers proximate to the open top, rotation of the cap relative to the bottle causes the vanes or wipers to circumferentially sweep and push any liquid accumulated on the open top into a position vertically aligned with the grooves or slots so that such accumulated liquid can drain downwardly through the grooves or slots towards the closed bottom under the influence of gravity.
