摘要： Disclosed are various embodiments of an extruded expandable barrier, and various processes and systems for manufacturing the same. Using various extrusion processes to form an extruded expandable barrier allows for a reduction in tooling costs while also allowing more flexible barrier designs. Such designs can be specifically tailored for a particular cavity or cavities to ensure that the barrier fills the cavity after expansion. In addition, design changes can occur with little to no tooling changes.

摘要： A system for sealing large volumes or gaps includes a flexible envelope that can assume the shape of the volume when filled with a foaming composition that expands the envelope to the boundaries of the volume. The foaming composition may be integral with the envelope or delivered in bulk by an external device. The foaming composition may be one or multiple parts, typically two parts such as a poly isocyanate and a polyols, in which case it is necessary to keep the two parts separate until foaming is desired. Separation may be accomplished by providing multiple compartments that deliver components via a mixing device into the interior. The envelope may include ribs for structural strength and shaping, and leak pores around its perimeter to enhance bonding and sealing. It may also include perforations for bulk, modular seals or for separation of portions of the envelope to seal irregular shapes.

摘要： There are provided a foaming filler member which allows, even when the inner space of a hollow member has a protruding space, easy filling of the protruding space without using an extra member, a heat-foamable sheet used for the foaming filler member, a method for manufacturing the heat-foamable sheet, and a method for filling the inner space of the hollow member. A heat-foamable sheet which extends in one direction when heated at 100 to 130° C. for 20 minutes and has an extension ratio of 5 to 50% in the extension direction is manufactured by stretch-forming a heat-foamable material. Even when the inner space has the protruding space, the protruding space can be easily filled at low cost without using an extra member by using the heat-foamable sheet as the foaming filler member, disposing the foaming filler member in the main space of the inner space, and foaming it such that the extending direction of the heat-foamable sheet is oriented toward the protruding space.

摘要： The invention relates to a method for permanently obturating holes, especially in metal sheets or plastic parts of automobile bodies. The inventive method is characterized by using a punched article which is at least partially provided on one side with an adhesive material and includes an especially textile support whose surface is greater than the surface of the hole to be obturated and which is especially provided with a non-expanded expandable body in the center of the adhesive side. The punched article is fixed on the hole together with the support in such a manner that the hole is completely covered by the punched article and the expandable body comes to rest inside the hole. The punched article and the expandable body are heated to such an extent that the expandable body expands, heat is supplied until the expanded expandable body completely fills and/or covers the hole, and the expanded expandable body cools off and cures.
