    • A molding apparatus has a multilayered structure with multiple die cavities, in which, one or a plurality of constraining components are each employed to pull both a stripper in a molding die and an adjacent sealing die by two ends, so as to strip the molded article and confine a distance between the two dies. Furthermore, during a molding process, a plurality of plates are each disposed between two dies. The molding apparatus is allowed to be closed gradually. After the molding, the molding apparatus is allowed to be opened gradually. When the stripper within the molding die and the sealing die both moved to be held by the two ends of the constraining components respectively, the stripper in each molding die will be pulled out by the buckle ring, thereby to strip the molded articles. Accordingly, a plurality of molded articles can be obtained in one molding operation.

    • The invention is directed to a forming device, especially internal high-pressure forming device, with a multiple-part forming tool and a clamping device which holds the parts of the forming tool together against the deforming action. In the novel forming device, according to the invention, the clamping device and/or the forming tool have/has at least one counter-clamping device which compensates at least partially for deformations of the mold cavity during forming. The possibility of compensation according to the invention makes it possible to construct the clamping and/or forming tool parts in a less solid manner.

    • A self-contained apparatus for forming metal sheet is adapted for operation within a standard double action press having a base and outer and inner vertically reciprocating slides. A basic die is mountable to the press and specific tooling is replaceably mountable to the basic die. The basic die includes a riser, a manifold and hydraulic cylinder assemblies. A sheet metal blank is positioned on the lower die and is clamped between the upper and lower dies whereby the periphery of the blank is gripped between a male and female bead mounted all around a part print cavity. The cylinder assemblies cause hydraulic fluid to be forced into a region between the clamped blank and the lower die and form the blank in the part print cavity. The male bead exerts varying control on the sheet to allow it to stretch across portions of the cavity while flowing into other portions of the cavity. A locking mechanism prevents the bending of the dies and holds the dies in a closed position thereby assisting the engagement of the male bead with the female bead. As a safety feature, the mechanism is configured to automatically open when the die cavity is moved up. The locking mechanism allows the use of high pressures to make large parts, such as car hoods, doors, deck lids, and quarter panels in conventional double action presses.

    • A method of bonding and shaping a plurality of pieces of material disposed in a fluid tight container includes providing a housing having components with different coefficients of thermal expansion. The container is positioned between upper and lower sections of the housing. The housing is then enclosed in an autoclave. The fluid in the autoclave and housing is heated with a resulting increase in the fluid pressure in the autoclave and housing. As the temperature and pressure in the housing is increased, the joint between the container and the housing sections is sealed by pressing the upper and lower sections of the housing against the container under the influence of forces resulting from different amounts of of thermal expansion of components of the housing. Thereafter, the fluid pressure in the autoclave is increased. Since the joint between the housing and the container has been sealed, the further increase in fluid pressure is applied to only the upper side of the container. This forces the container downwardly against a forming surface having a configuration corresponding to a desired configuration of the pieces of material.
