摘要： The coating film formed on an automobile body has softness during a film formation even on a thermally expandable/shrinkable base, and the cured film has an excellent appearance.Provided is a method for forming a multilayer coating film, the method comprises: applying an aqueous intermediate coating composition and preheating the applied composition at 60 to 90° C. to form an uncured film;preheating to form an uncured base coating film and a clear coating film; and baking and curing these uncured films to form a multilayer coating film, wherein the aqueous intermediate coating composition comprises (a) an acrylic resin emulsion having a specific properties, and (b) a film formation auxiliary agent that is a fatty acid diester compound having a boiling point of 280° C. to 350° C., and a cured film comprising (a) and (b) at a mass ratio of 3:1 has a rupture elongation of 1% or more.

摘要： A laminated coating film (2) includes a metallic base layer (4) and a color clear layer 5, and produces a target color with the metallic base layer 4 and the color clear layer (5). The laminated coating film (2) is designed to have high chroma at the highlight, and further to provide an appearance of denseness. To address this, the laminated coating film satisfies the following formula (1): (RH(P)/RH(OA))>60 (1) where RH(P) represents a highlight reflectance of light of the target color, and RH(OA) represents an average highlight reflectance of light in a wavelength range outside a hue range of the target color.

摘要： A method for forming a multilayer coating film includes applying an aqueous first base coating composition (A) onto a cured electrodeposition coating film, applying an aqueous second base coating composition (B) without preheating, performing preheating, further applying a clear coating composition (C), and simultaneously heat-curing the first base coating film, the second base coating film, and the clear coating film. The aqueous first base coating composition contains a specific aqueous polyester resin, a specific aqueous acrylic resin, a specific aqueous urethane resin and a melamine resin. A breaking energy of a coating film formed of the aqueous first base coating composition and a peel strength between the coating film and the cured electrodeposition coating film are controlled to specific values.

摘要： A coating method for forming a laminated coating film including: preparing a thermosetting coating material as a lower layer-coating material, an intermediate layer-coating material, and as an upper layer-coating material; forming an uncured laminated coating film by applying the lower layer-coating, the intermediate layer-coating, and the upper layer-coating materials on the base material using a wet-on-wet technique; and simultaneously curing the lower layer-coating, the intermediate layer-coating, and upper layer-coating materials by baking the uncured laminated coating film. In the preparation step, the lower layer-coating, the intermediate layer-coating, and the upper layer-coating materials are selected so a sum of an absolute value of a difference in shrinkage ratio between the lower layer-coating and the intermediate layer-coating materials and an absolute value of a difference in shrinkage ratio between the intermediate layer-coating and the upper layer-coating materials at the late stage of the baking is 3.0% or smaller.

摘要： Described is a method for producing a multicoat color and/or effect paint system. The method is characterized in that a pigmented aqueous basecoat material is used which comprises at least one phosphine oxide of formula (I): wherein the radicals R1 to R3 are selected from the group of aliphatic or aromatic hydrocarbons. The sum total of the weight percentage fractions of all of the phosphine oxides of formula (I) is 0.1% to 5% by weight, based on the total weight of the basecoat material. Also described are the corresponding basecoat materials, a corresponding multicoat color and/or effect paint system, and use of the phosphine oxides in pigmented aqueous coating materials. Further describes is a method for repairing defects on multicoat color and/or effect paint systems produced with the aid of the method of the invention.

The cured intermediate coated film has, at 20° C., an elongation at break of 40% to 90%, a Young's modulus of 600 MPa to 1,600 MPa, and a Tukon hardness of 3 to 9.
