摘要： Aluminum wheels include a rim and a disc having a mounting portion. The mounting portion includes an inner mounting face and an outer mounting face. The mounting portion also includes a coarse grain region and a fine grain region. The coarse grain region can be adjacent, and at least partially form, one of the inner mounting face or the outer mounting face. The coarse grain region includes aluminum alloy grains of a first average grain length that is greater than 1 mm. The fine grain region extends between the coarse grain region and the other of the inner mounting face or the outer mounting face. The fine grain region includes aluminum alloy grains of a second average grain length that is less than 0.5 mm.

摘要： An aircraft wheel rim includes a main portion and a removable portion. The main portion includes a hub and a disk extending between the hub and an annular outer portion that receives a tire and is shaped to form a rim one of its sides of the annular outer portion. A second side of the annular outer portion is shaped to receive the removable portion, which forms a second flange on the second side of the annular outer portion after a tire has been put into place. The rim further includes a blocking device that limits rotation of the removable portion relative to the main portion. The blocking element include at least one key having a head engaged in a matching receptacle in the removable portion and a root engaging a steel peg that is shrink fitted in the main portion.

摘要： Forward movement of a bicycle results when force is transfer from the chain or belt to a sprocket on a cassette. The cassette is splined to the cassette driver and causes the wheel of the bike to rotate when torque is applied from the cassette to the cassette driver. The cassette driver is typically made of a strong hard material such as steel to withstand the forces in parted thereon by the cassette. The present disclosure provide a hub configuration and method that enables the cassette driver to be made with construction of a lighter weight material such as aluminum yet still withstand the toque applied thereto.

摘要： A bicycle wheel rim design with high safety margin and optimized strength-to-weight is described. The rim provides a tire bead supporting platform which defines a circumferential bead seat with minimum bead seat diameter equal to the standard tire bead diameter defined for a particular size of tire. Each tire bead seat defined along the rim circumference is comprised by a pair of circumferential ridges. The circumferential ridges comprise the external sidewalls of the rim and do not include tire bead hook features, and are of optimized sidewall thickness to add load strength and lateral stiffness, and resist crushing from impact. The interior ridges are increased diameter towards the medial plane of the rim to a value greater than the specified tire bead diameter. Given this geometry, the left lateral and right lateral of each tire bead is safely constrained within the defined bead seats under a wide variety of uses.

A tire is mounted to the wheel and cooperates with the wheel to define a tire cavity between the radial outer surface of the rim portion and the tire. A foamed aluminum portion is supported by the wheel, and includes a plurality of pores arranged to define an open-cell foam. The plurality of pores of the foamed aluminum portion is disposed in fluid communication with the tire cavity to absorb noise from within the tire cavity. The foamed aluminum portion may be integrally cast with the wheel, or otherwise affixed to the wheel.

A rear hub assembly includes a single shell that forms a non-drive-side spoke flange and a drive-side spoke flange. The drive-side flange is enlarged relative to the non-drive-side flange thereby improving the angle of the spoke attachment to the hub and facilitating more even spoke tensioning. For example, a drive-side flange diameter is at least 100 mm. The flanges are optionally tilted toward a wheel center line to more directly align the flange and spoke holes with the assembled spokes. The single shell hub is formed so as to receive three sets of bearings with two of the three sets of bearings mounted near the center line of the hub assembly.
