    • A closed-case impact sprinkler unit having an outer case and an internally positioned riser sleeve that is upwardly extendable into a pop-up position. The riser sleeve may be formed with an external surface that is complimentary to the internal surface of the outer case to prevent the introduction of debris into the interior region of the outer case when the riser sleeve is in a pop-up position. The sprinkler unit may further include a closed-case turret assembly rotatably mounted on the riser sleeve that includes a fluid outlet and a compact impact sprinkler arm. The sprinkler unit may include a dual-stage riser spring assembly to delay deployment of the impact sprinkler arm having a first riser spring that is compressed when a fluid enters the interior region of the outer casing to move the riser sleeve in a relatively upward direction, and a second riser spring that is compressed upon compression of the first riser spring to disengage a valve assembly that permits the flow of fluid and activation of the sprinkler. The invention further provides a trip assembly that includes an elongated actuator opening and a trip pin pivotally mounted within the actuator opening to allow lateral movement of the trip pin which initiates a delayed reversal of the trip assembly upon contact with a trip to provide an extended sprinkling range.

    • An arc marking system is provided for a sprinkler that waters an arc, either a full circle arc or a part circle arc. The system includes a plurality of arc indicators provided on the top of the nozzle assembly. Each arc indicator is adjacent an arc indicia such that each arc indicator represents a different arc that this sprinkler is capable of watering. After ascertaining the arc that a particular sprinkler can water, the arc information can be marked on the nozzle assembly by cutting off the arc indicator that is adjacent the numeral that represents the number of degrees covered by the arc. Thus, the arc information is added to the top of the sprinkler where it can be easily seen.

    • A sprinkler device has a helical track and a tracking element coupled between a reciprocating piston and a rotating head or nozzle to convert the reciprocal linear motion of the piston to rotation motion of the head or nozzle. A sprinkler housing defines a chamber for receiving the reciprocating piston. A sprinkler head is rotatably disposed on the housing and has a shaft extending into a cavity of the piston. The helical track is formed in the exterior surface of the shaft. Water is channeling into the chamber causing the piston to move in a linear direction. A tracking element formed on the piston engages the track and forces the shaft, and thus the head, to rotate. A return mechanism is coupled to the head and engages a valve to control the channeling of the water about the piston, causing the piston to reciprocate. An adjustable valve controls the flow of the water about the piston, and thus the rotational speed of the head. A primary stream of water is directed from the head towards a distal perimeter zone, while a secondary stream of water exhausted from the chamber is directed through a secondary nozzle towards a local perimeter zone.

    • An irrigation apparatus (10) includes a conduit housing (14) with at least one elongated, flexible irrigation conduit (12) received in a retracted position therein. A water supply arrangement associated with the conduit housing (14) allows water to be supplied through the housing to a proximal end (20) of each irrigation conduit (12). Also, a conduit deployment arrangement associated with the conduit housing (14) allows the irrigation conduits (12) to extend from the housing to an extended position in response to water supplied to the housing through the water supply arrangement. In the extended position, each irrigation conduit (12) extends over an area to be irrigated, and emitters along the length of each conduit emit water to efficiently irrigate the area under and immediately surrounding the extended conduit. A conduit retracting arrangement (32) retracts the irrigation conduits (12) back to the retracted position once the water pressure is withdrawn from the device.
