摘要： Disclosed is an absorbent article having an absorbent core. The absorbent core includes a primary absorbent member and a secondary absorbent member. The primary absorbent member has a fluid distribution rate, expressed as the ratio of a stain area in the primary absorbent member to a stain area in the secondary absorbent member, along a X-Y direction greater than about 1.8 times faster than the secondary absorbent member. The fluid distribution rate is expressed as a ratio of a stain area in the primary absorbent member to a stain area in the secondary absorbent member five minutes after a given volume of test fluid insults the absorbent core. The secondary absorbent member has a substantial portion thereof composed of a non-absorbent polymeric composition. The secondary absorbent member is superposed over a portion of the primary absorbent member. In a preferred embodiment, the secondary absorbent member has an aperture or orifice having an open surface area greater than about 20% of the secondary absorbent member surface area.

The nonwoven materials can have multiple layers and are suitable for use in a variety of applications, including in absorbent products. Such nonwoven materials can be patterned to create a three-dimensional topography including indentations formed of valleys and ridges. The nonwoven materials can have improved resiliency and strength and can retain their structure under wetted conditions and after tension and compression. The nonwoven materials can further facilitate the transfer of the liquid through the nonwoven material for improved liquid distribution and can also have improved liquid retention properties.

摘要： The problem to be solved by the present invention is to provide an absorbent article in which a reduction in liquid absorbency caused by the hydrophobicity of thermoplastic resin fiber is prevented through the use of thermoplastic resin fiber that includes unsaturated carboxylic acid, unsaturated carboxylic acid anhydride, or a mixture of these as a monomer component. The present invention solves this problem by providing a sanitary napkin provided with a top sheet, a back sheet, and an absorbent body disposed between the top sheet and the back sheet. The absorbent body has an absorbent material layer that contains a cellulose-based hydrophilic fiber and a thermoplastic resin fiber that includes unsaturated carboxylic acid, unsaturated carboxylic acid anhydride, or a mixture of these as a monomer component in a mass ratio of 90:10 to 50:50. The top sheet has an integrated section that is heat-treated together with the absorbent material layer so as to be integrated with the absorbent material layer.

摘要： An absorbent article is disclosed which exhibits enhanced wicking capacity. The absorbent article includes a liquid-permeable cover, a liquid-impermeable baffle and an absorbent enclosed therebetween. The absorbent is constructed of first, second and third members. Each member has a wicking capacity for body fluids discharged by a human body. The first member has a high wicking capacity, the second member has a lower wicking capacity than the first member, and the third member has a greater wicking capacity than the second member. The different wicking capacities of the three members promotes a systematic distribution of body fluid away from the body-side cover down into the absorbent article. The second member also has an equal or greater width than either the first or third members so as to provide a visual cue of when the absorbent article is in need of changing. By changing the absorbent article when the second member appears to be soiled, the user can prevent side leakage and soiling of an adjacent undergarment.

The hump preferably has a caliper of at least about 0.15 inch (about 3.5-4 millimeters). The longitudinal central region of the sanitary napkin preferably has a flexure-resistance that is greater than that of the surrounding regions.
