    • An implant comprising two internal anti-rotational features. One anti-rotational feature is adapted to engage a driving tool, while the other anti-rotational feature is adapted to engage an abutment. An implant abutment system is provided with an angled abutment adapted to mate with one of the anti-rotational features. A second, straight abutment is adapted to engage with the other anti-rotational feature. An abutment is provided with resilient fingers to interface with the implant and provide tactile and audible feedback indicating when the abutment is properly seated. An abutment screw extends through the abutment and engages the implant bore distal of the stem of the abutment. The abutment screw limits axial movement of the abutment relative to the implant. A driving tool comprising one of at least retention structure and visual alignment indicia is provided to facilitate screwing the implant into a patient's bone.

    • The present application relates to a fitting for insertion into a dental implant in an insertion orientation defining a central insertion axis and an insertion direction of the fitting. The fitting includes at least one resilient spring member being expandable perpendicularly to the insertion axis of the fitting for impeding a movement of the fitting relative to the dental implant along the insertion axis when inserted into the dental implant. It further includes an alignment feature for rotationally aligning the fitting relative to the dental implant about the insertion axis. The fitting is characterized in that the alignment feature extends further in the insertion direction than the spring member.

    • Shape memory dental retention systems which facilitate the adjustment or removal of an oral appliance, e.g., a crown or bridge, from a reconfigurable abutment assembly are described. The adjustable abutment assembly may be secured to an anchoring implant bored into the bones within the mouth. The abutment assembly has a projecting abutment portion with one or more shape memory material sleeves or plates or elements extending along the abutment. Each of the sleeves has a length with at least one curved or arcuate portion. Energy may be applied to the elements such that the arcuate portion flattens to allow for the oral appliance to be placed thereupon while removal of the energy allows the elements to reconfigure into its curved configuration thereby locking the oral appliance to the abutment. Removal of the oral appliance may be effected by reapplication of energy to the elements.

    • A tooth implant device comprises an abutment and a fixture. The abutment includes an upper portion to which a dental crown is attached and a lower portion whose cross-section decreases to a downward direction. The fixture includes an abutment inserting hole into which the abutment is inserted and is made of a bone-friendly metallic material. The fixture has an outer surface without threaded portions and has stiffness in a range of 5 percents to 40 percents compared to that of a solid form. When the abutment is inserted into the abutment inserting hole, the flexible fixture expands to apply a uniform stress to alveolar bone and be secured thereto in a taper-lock fashion.
