    • An exhaust manifold for a multicylinder type internal combustion engine has a connector is employed for connecting downstream ends of gas conduits to upstream ends of a forked exhaust pipe. The connector is of a monolithic casting and comprises a base plate portion having openings respectively connected to the upstream ends of the forked exhaust pipe, two collar portions intergrally formed on the base plate portion and having respective bores merged with the openings of the base plate portion respectively. The downstream ends of the gas conduits are sealingly received in the collar portions. A sensor mount is integrally formed on the connector for mounting a gas sensor. The sensor mount has a bore which is exposed to the interior of both the two collar portions.

    • The invention relates to a fuel tank cap comprising a body, the upper portion of which is provided with a hole. Said hole exhibits a plurality of concave or convex sections which are formed along the inner periphery of the hole. A cover comprises a sleeve, which is formed on the inner periphery of the cover for insertion into the hole of the body, and has a plurality of axial slits. The sleeve is provided with a plurality of convex or concave sections formed along its outer periphery so as to mate with the concave or convex sections of the hole, respectively. When a clamping torque applied on the cap exceeds a predetermined value, an idle-rotation mechanism is established between the sleeve and the hole. The fuel tank cap and, more particularly, such a type of cap can effectively prevent the leakage of fuel in a vehicle fuel tank when the vehicle collides with another vehicle or object.

    • A centrifugal pump capable of rotating in a normal direction while enabling a fluid to flow in a normal direction and rotating in a reverse direction while enabling the fluid to flow in the reverse direction without having its pumping efficiency dropping to a lower level in a reverse rotation mode than in a normal rotation mode. The pump includes two pump casings each having an inlet and outlet portion extending tangentially of each pump casing and connected together through an intermediate casing to provide a unitary structure in which the two pump casings are located concentrically in face-to-face relation, and an impeller having a helical blade extending axially from one zone in one pump casing into another zone in the other pump casing for rotation along the center axis of the pump. The impeller has a minimum outer diameter at the center of its center axis and includes portions each flaring in one of axial opposite directions in the form of a cone. The impeller has an outer periphery cooperating with an inner periphery of the intermediate casing to define a small clearance therebetween. The inlet and outlet portions of the two pump casings are arranged such that when the two pump casings alternately act as a suction casing at the time of normal rotation and reverse rotation, the influx direction of the fluid through the inlet and outlet portion of the pump casing acting as a suction casing is opposed to the direction of rotation of the impeller means.
