摘要： A modified picking mechanism is disclosed for interrupting actuation of a picker stick at predetermined intervals to stop the insertion of filling yarn into the fabric for a predetermined number of picks. A pick shaft is disclosed wherein a pick arm that is associated with the picker stick is journaled around a reduced diameter portion of the pick shaft for free movement thereabout. A spring biased pawl attached to the pick arm is normally presented for contact with a protuberance from the pick shaft so as to actuate the picker stick to propel the shuttle across the loom. At predetermined intervals, a box motion indicator causes an indicator rod to be raised which pivots a lever into engagement with the pawl and causes the pawl to rotate out of engaging position with the protuberance from the pick shaft. The pick shaft then reciprocates freely whereby the picker stick remains motionless and no fill yarn is inserted.

摘要： A waterproof, breathable textile substrate and a process for producing same are disclosed and claimed herein. The substrate is preferably interstice containing and an extensible polymer film is applied onto a side thereof, intended for interior use with respect to contact with water, etc., without striking through to an opposite side thereof. A durable, water repellant composition may also be applied to the complete substrate if desired. The process for producing the waterproof, breathable substrate according to the present invention involves the presentation of a smooth substrate to an applicator unit and the application thereat of a polymeric film forming composition onto one side of the substrate only without any of the composition striking through the substrate to the opposite side thereof. Subsequent to application of the polymeric composition, the substrate is handled on the uncoated side only prior to formation of the film. The film is formed during drying of the substrate, preferably in a completely relaxed condition both in the longitudinal and transverse directions.

摘要： A process for precisely depositing a composition onto a textile substrate so as to closely control the amount added on while simultaneously controlling the placement of the composition onto the substrate. A textile substrate is fed, in a smooth condition, to an applicator roll where a metered amount of a composition is continuously applied to the substrate while simultaneously therewith, tension on the substrate, speed of the applicator roll relative to the speed of the substrate and contact between the substrate and the applicator are controlled, and after which the composition is evenly distributed across the substrate. Plural applicators may be arranged in tandem for applying the same or different materials to one or both sides of the substrate. The invention is also directed to textile products having materials precisely deposited thereon by the process of the present invention.

摘要： The invention provides a teaching of method and apparatus for utilizing certain substituted phosphono-amide flame retardant containing compositions on cellulosic materials in a manner effective for mass production by continuous movement of the material. In particular, the invention utilizes apparatus which avoids sticking of the material to any conveying means during curing in the utilization of a festoon- or loop-curing-type oven. A critical material temperature range during curing has been found to be particularly effective in the process disclosed herein and the curing may be assisted by means of an auxiliary heater to render certain the maintenance of a predetermined temperature in the material itself as it passes through the oven.
