    • A vehicle seat includes a seat cushion assembly for supporting an occupant seated thereon and a seat back cushion assembly for supporting the back of an occupant seated on the seat cushion assembly. A first mounting assembly is constructed and arranged to mount the seat cushion assembly on a vehicle floor and a second mounting assembly is provided which is constructed and arranged to mount the seat back cushion assembly on the seat cushion assembly. An adjusting mechanism is operatively embodied in one of the first and second mounting assemblies and is constructed and arranged to enable the cushion assembly mounted by the one mounting assembly to be moved in opposite directions through a range of adjustable positions with respect to the assembly on which the one mounting assembly mounts the cushion assembly. The adjusting mechanism also includes a locking and releasing device. A vehicle crash sensing system is operatively connected with the adjusting mechanism and is constructed and arranged to provide control of the movement of the cushion assembly mounted by the one mounting assembly in response to the sensing of a crash condition which occurs while said locking device is in the releasing position.

    • A vehicle seat assembly includes a seat frame structure having a riser and a movable portion movable in relation to the riser in fore and aft directions with respect to a longitudinal axis of a vehicle. A seat cushion assembly including an open-cell foam seat cushion is mounted on the movable portion. The seat cushion includes a plurality of air channels therein extending from a bottom surface to a top surface thereof.     • A device for molding foam products including upper and lower portions cooperable to form a foam mold defining a mold cavity therein. The upper mold portion has at least one vent hole therein. A mechanism for providing the mold cavity with an expandable foam during a filling cycle is also provided. The expandable foam reactively expands when provided within the cavity so as to be molded into the shape of the cavity during a foaming cycle. The foam approaches the vent hole while expanding within the mold cavity during the foaming cycle. At least one vent hole provides a passage through which air and reaction product gases introduced into the cavity as a byproduct of the reactive expanding of the foam can escape to atmosphere from the cavity during the foaming cycle. A sensing and signal generating assembly detects the presence of the foam at a predetermined proximity to the at least one vent hole during the foaming cycle and generates a signal in response to the detection. Finally, a sealing mechanism cooperates with the at least one vent hole to close the passage when the sensing and signal generating assembly generates the signal in response to the detection of the foam at the predetermined proximity to the at least one vent hole to prevent the foam approaching the vent hole from escaping the cavity through the passage.

    • A connector structure for connecting a rigid member disposed towards the lower portion of one side of an automobile seat back to a rearward portion of an automobile seat. The connector structure enables the seat back to be reclined at varying angles by being pivoted about a first pivot point, and further enables the seat back to be positioned so that a back surface thereof provides a horizontal cargo support by being pivoted about a second pivot point. The connector structure comprises a seat member, an arm with a releasable locking assembly, a latch assembly, and a lever mechanism. The lever mechanism is manually movable to disable the latch assembly and thereby permit the arm to be moved about the first pivot point so that the seat back can be reclined at varying angles. The lever mechanism is also manually movable to release the releasable locking assembly to permit movement of the rigid member of the seat back with respect to the arm about the second pivot point and thereby enable the seat back to be pivotally movable between the dress-up and dump positions. The lever mechanism is manually releasable to selectively enable the latch assembly to lock the arm so as to set the angle at which the back is reclined with respect to the seat and enable the releasable locking assembly to lock the rigid member against movement so as to rigidly maintain the seat back in one of the dress-up and dump positions.

The upper cushioned pad is moved i) upwardly in response to movement of the first cushion assembly from the adult to child mode position to provide support to the back of the head of a child seat occupant, and ii) downwardly in response to movement of the first cushion assembly from the child to adult mode position to provide support to an adult seat occupant sitting on the seat cushion when the cushion assemblies are in the adult mode position.

    • A method of making an interior panel of an automotive vehicle door having an exterior surface which is to face toward the interior of the automotive vehicle when installed therein. An apparatus utilized in the method comprises a mold assembly including a first vacuum mold component having a mold surface shaped to form the exterior surface of an upper section of the door panel, a second non-vacuum mold component cooperable in side-by-side relation with the first vacuum mold component having a mold surface shaped to form the exterior surface of a lower section of the door panel and a third non-vacuum mold component cooperable in opposed relation with the first and second mold components having a mold surface shaped to form the entire opposite surface of the door panel. The method comprises the steps of heating a laminated sheet, and vacuum forming the heated sheet in the first vacuum mold component. Next, a seal is formed along a marginal edge of the vinyl sheet with an elongated sealing surface at a side of the first vacuum mold component which cooperates in side-by-side relation with the second non-vacuum mold component. Thereafter, a substrate is molded and bonded with the vacuum formed laminate sheet to form a panel in which the substrate defines (1) an opposite surface of the panel having a shape corresponding to the mold surface of the third mold component and (2) an exterior surface of the panel having a shape corresponding to the mold surface of the second mold component.
