    • A mold apparatus for producing a synthetic resin foam part has a mold assembly (1) comprising a lower mold (2), an upper mold (3) removably attached to the lower mold to define a closed space, and an insert (4) removably disposed in the closed space. The insert has a partition (6) which is faced to the upper mold through a gap (11). The partition defines a chamber (7) between the insert and the upper mold. The closed space excluding the chamber constitutes a cavity (8) into which a molding compound is introduced. A pressure regulator means (21) is provided for exhausting air from the chamber (7) to keep the chamber in a subatmospheric pressure whereby air in the cavity (8) is also exhausted through the gap. A foam part is produced by feeding a synthetic resin blow molding compound into the cavity (8) under atmospheric pressure, tightly closing the mold assembly, exhausting air from the chamber and from the cavity through the gap to establish a subatmospheric pressure in the cavity, and causing the molding compound to be blow molded.

    • A method for producing a casting die by simple work without requiring any high work skill in which the working days required for producing the casting die can be shortened greatly. A die model suitably employed in this production method, an NC processing system and a processing robot are also provided. The method for producing the casting die comprises: (1) a die data making step for making die data through designing a requisite die in compliance with a configuration of an article to be produced; (2) an automatic processing preparation step for preparing processing data as to how processing is to be performed by an automatic processing machine on the basis of the die data; (3) a die model cutting step for producing a die model by cutting a die model material with the automatic processing machine; (4) a die mold making step for making a die mold by packing casting sand in a box whose upper side is open, with the die model produced in the die model cutting step being placed at a central part of the box, the casting sand being provided with a gate and solidified with bond to thereby obtain the die mold; (5) a die casting step for casting a die by pouring a molten die material into the die mold made in the die mold making step; and (6) a finishing and assembling step for finishing and assembling the die cast in the die casting step.

    • A polyurethane seat pad having a center seat portion and bank portions therearound is molded by using a mold defining a cavity having a center region corresponding to the center seat portion and side regions corresponding to the bank portions, placing collecting vessels of expanded polyolefin in the side regions of the mold cavity, pouring a foamable polyurethane liquid for low hardness foam into the cavity between said collecting vessels, pouring a foamable polyurethane liquid for high hardness foam into said collecting vessels, and causing the foamable liquids to expand, thereby producing a polyurethane seat pad having the collecting vessels embedded therein. The expanded polyolefin is a crosslinked polyolefin foam having an index of surface wetting of at least 36 dyne/cm. The seat pad in which the bank portions have higher hardness than the seating portion and which is fully durable against repetitive loading can be produced to the desired configuration in a stable manner.
