    • Provided are a method and an apparatus for reproducing information using a semiconductor probe. The apparatus includes a storage media including a ferroelectric recording layer which stores information by arranging a polarization direction of polarization domains of the ferroelectric recording layer and a physical recording layer disposed on the ferroelectric recording layer and whereupon information is written by forming pits in the physical recording layer, a semiconductor probe generating a composite signal including an electric field signal generated by an electric field variation of the ferroelectric recording layer of the storage media and a thermal signal generated by a temperature variation generated due to a variation in a shape of the physical recording layer, a signal detector detecting the composite signal from the semiconductor probe, and a demodulator demodulating the composite signal from the signal detector and extracting the electric field signal and the thermal signal from the composite signal.

    • Apparatus and method for transducing data from a ferroelectric data storage medium using high frequency read modulation. In accordance with some embodiments, a ferroelectric data transducer has a write electrode, a doped semiconductor layer with a source, a drain and a channel therebetween, and an insulating layer disposed between the channel and the write electrode. A write circuit applies a time varying write signal at a first frequency to the write electrode to write a corresponding sequence of data bits to an adjacent ferroelectric data storage medium. A read circuit reads the sequence of data bits from the data storage medium by applying a time varying read signal at a higher, second frequency to the write electrode and detecting changes in electrical resistance of the channel.

    • Provided are a bit patterned medium having a super-track, a method of tracking a track of the bit patterned medium, a head appropriate for the bit patterned medium, and an information recording/reproducing apparatus including the bit patterned medium and the head.     • A data storage apparatus adopting a time division multiplexing technique, and a data recording method and a data reproduction method both using the apparatus, are provided. In the data storage apparatus, a recording medium stores data, and a stage supports the recording medium. A scanner drives the stage, and a cantilever array composed of a plurality of cantilevers record data to and reproducing data from the recording medium in a data detecting sequence. A controller detects data by applying a scanner driving signal to the scanner and applying a voltage signal for data recording or a voltage modulation signal for data reproduction to the plurality of cantilevers. Controlling the plurality of cantilevers using a single controller enables a data storage apparatus to be driven with low power and reduced in its circuit size. Installation of a pseudo-differential capacitor ensures high sensitivity. Since data is recorded and reproduced while the scanner moves at a uniform speed, and the data are recorded in a specific pattern, this leads to fast data recording and reproduction.
