    • Ultraviolet rays are radiated over a lubricant film formed on the surface of a recording medium such as a hard disk. The recording medium is then subjected to exposure to a bases. The radiation of the ultraviolet rays allows the lubricant film to uniformly spread over the surface of the recording medium. The repellency can be enhanced over the surface of the recording medium. The friction can be reduced on the recording medium. Moreover, when the recording medium is exposed to the base, organic acid existing on the surface of the recording medium and/or in the lubricant film can be transformed into salt. The organic acid can be washed off or removed from the surface of the recording medium and/or out of the lubricant film in this manner. Less organic acid greatly contributes to prevention of generation of corrosion mounds on the recording medium over a longer period.

    • A method of texturing includes the process of enhancing the hydrophilicity on the surface of a substrate for a recording medium. A texture is then formed on the surface of the substrate with an aqueous slurry in which abrasive grains are dispersed. The surface of the substrate is expected to exhibit an enhanced property of wetness to the aqueous slurry. The aqueous slurry easily spreads over and contacts the surface of the substrate even from the initial stage of the process. The abrasive grains in the aqueous slurry are allowed to uniformly spread over the surface of the substrate. Establishment of the texture can be started on the surface of the substrate at an earlier stage of the process. Even with the abrasive grains of a smaller grain size, a fine and uniform texture of a predetermined surface roughness can be established on the surface of the substrate within a shortened period. Increase in the operating period of abrasion can remarkably be suppressed irrespective of the reduced size of the abrasive grains.

    • The invention provides a method for manufacturing an organic electroluminescence device having a first flexible plate and a second flexible plate and an organic electroluminescence element provided on a portion at approximately the center of at least one of the flexible plates. The method includes: forming the first flexible plate having a S region which has larger UV light transmittance and a W region which has larger UV light transmittance; forming a substantially frame-shaped UV-curable resin layer on the first flexible plate and/or the second flexible plate so that the UV-curable resin layer overlaps at least partially with the S region; and adhering the first flexible plate with the second flexible plate by irradiation of UV light which uses the S region as an irradiation face so as to cure the UV-curable resin layer. The invention further provides an organic electroluminescence device formed by the method.
