    • Disclosed are a hybrid automatic translation method and apparatus employing a combination of a rule-based method and a translation pattern method, and a computer readable medium thereof, which is capable of solving an ambiguity problem of the conventional rule-based method and a pattern generation and coverage problem of the translation pattern method. The hybrid automatic translation apparatus includes: a morpheme analyzing block for analyzing a morpheme of an inputted source sentence and determining parts of speech; a syntactic structure analyzing block for parsing the tagging result to output a parsing tree; a construction pattern generating block for extracting only a chunking result of phrases belonging to sub-category from the parsing tree to generate a construction pattern; a construction pattern translating block for translating the construction pattern by using a translation pattern; a clause structure analyzing block for analyzing a clause unit structure of the if the translation pattern matching of the construction pattern fails; and a partial pattern translating block for performing a pattern translation of partial construction pattern according to the result of the clause structure analysis to output a final translation result.

    • Dental retention systems which facilitate the adjustment or removal of an oral appliance, e.g., a crown or bridge, from a reconfigurable abutment assembly are described. The adjustable abutment assembly may be secured to an anchoring implant bored into the bones within the mouth. The abutment assembly has a projecting abutment portion with one or more shape memory alloy compression plates or elements extending along the projecting abutment portion. Each of the plates has a length with one or more straightened portions and with at least one curved or arcuate portion. Energy may be applied to the elements such that the arcuate portion self-flattens to allow for the oral appliance to be placed thereupon while removal of the energy allows the elements to reconfigure into its curved configuration thereby locking the oral appliance to the abutment. Removal of the oral appliance may be effected by reapplication of energy to the elements.

    • An optical fingerprint image input device for a mobile apparatus includes: a plate-shaped fingerprint contact member; a distortion correcting member for correcting distortions; light sources disposed at both sides of the fingerprint contact member, other than an inclined surface or a back light source in a liquid crystal display element; focusing means disposed at an inclined surface side of the distortion correcting member; and an image sensor. In other words, the fingerprint contact member and the distortion correcting member having respective set-up inclined angles are disposed to discern sweat, water or oil and to correct a trapezoidal distortion which is a disadvantage that occurs when a thin fingerprint contact medium is used, and to form a lens system comprised of a cylindrical lens and a spherical lens for adjustment of a ratio of transversal to longitudinal widths of an image. By this configuration, problems generated by the thin optical fingerprint input device can be overcome to minimize the loss of information necessary for fingerprint verification and a region of used image sensor can be established in consideration of a design to be capable of obtaining fingerprint information of a high resolution. Furthermore, as a thin optical fingerprint input device can be embodied, the present invention can be applied to a mobile apparatus like a cellular phone, and a conventional secrecy-maintaining function performed by a secret number can be replaced by fingerprint information to thereby increase the secrecy of the mobile apparatus.

    • Methods for forming STI structures in semiconductor devices are disclosed. A disclosed method comprises: forming a buffer oxide layer on a silicon substrate; implanting ions into the entire surface of the resulting structure and removing the buffer oxide layer; depositing a gate oxide layer, a polysilicon layer and a nitride layer, forming a photoresist pattern; forming the trench of the STI structure by perform an etching process using the photoresist pattern as an etching mask; forming a thin oxide layer inside the trench and on the nitride layer on the entire surface of the resulting structure; filling the trench with an insulating layer; planarizing the insulating layer by performing a CMP process using the nitride layer as an etching stop layer; performing a recessing process to etch the planarized insulating layer and the thin oxide layer on the trench to a predetermined depth; forming a photoresist pattern on the nitride layer; and forming the gate electrodes by performing an etching process using the photoresist pattern as a mask pattern.
