    • A workpiece processing apparatus S, which comprises: a plasma generator unit 6 including a plasma generation section 18 operable to plasmatize a given gas supplied thereto, and emit the plasmatized gas therefrom; and a transport mechanism 2 adapted to support a target workpiece W in a position beneath the plasma generation section 18, wherein the plasmatized gas is emitted onto the workpiece W to carry out a given processing. The workpiece processing apparatus S further includes a setup frame 4 adapted to set up the plasma generator unit 6 to allow the plasma generation section 18 to be located over the workpiece. The plasma generator unit 6 is mounted to the setup frame 4 in a manner capable of being drawn out of a setup position where the plasma generation section 18 is positioned over the workpiece W, in a horizontal direction.

    • A splicing device which can automatically connect films to a leader, includes a table for supporting the leader. The table has an opening over which is provided a support portion for supporting a film cartridge. A fixed guide and a movable guide are provided under the opening. Defined between the fixed and movable guides is a film turning passage having a film outlet and inlet that face the opening. A feed roller and a press roller are provided at the inlet of the film turning passage. With the leader set in position on the table, a swing arm is pivoted to catch the film end protruding from the film cartridge supported by the support portion. The swing arm is further pivoted to guide the film end through a second hole formed in the leader into the film turning passage. In this state, the feed roller is rotated to feed the film through the film turning passage and into the first hole formed in the leader while resiliently deforming prongs extending across the first hole. Then, the feed roller is reversed to pull the film backward until the prongs engage in holes formed in the film at its leading end. The film is thus connected to the leader.

    • In a tape recording and/or reproducing apparatus having a guide drum with rotary heads for recording or reproducing signals in slant tracks scanned on a longitudinally transported tape wrapped helically about a circumferential surface of the drum between a tape-entry position and a tape-exit position; a tape-guiding assembly, which may be part of a tape loading device, includes ultrasonically vibrated tape guides engageably by the tape adjacent the tape-entry and tape-exit positions, respectively, auxiliary guide elements angled relative to the vibrated tape guides, respectively, and each being disposed for engagement by the tape between the respective vibrated tape guide and the tape-entry or tape exit position, respectively, with such auxiliary guide elements having respective surface projections extending therefrom at positions therealong corresponding to widthwise portions of the tape at which the rotary heads scan the tape adjacent the tape-entry and tape-exit positions, respectively, so that the surface projections on the auxiliary guide elements relatively increase tension in the tape at the respective widthwise portions for minimizing errors that may arise in the signals recorded or reproduced in the tracks adjacent the tape-entry and tape-exit positions due to vibrations transmitted along the tape from the vibrated tape guides.
