摘要： A multilayered microfluidic device having a substantially monolithic structure is formed by sintering together a plurality of green-sheet layers. The substantially monolithic structure has an inlet port for receiving fluid, an outlet port for releasing fluid, and an interconnection between the inlet port and the outlet port. The substantially monolithic structure may also include a variety of components to enable useful interaction with the fluid, such as electrically conductive pathways, heaters, fluid sensors, fluid motion transducers, and optically transmissive portions. The components are preferably fabricated using thick-film or green-sheet technology and are preferably co-fired with and sintered to the green-sheet layers to become integral with the substantially monolithic structure.

摘要： A switch circuit for a cellular radiotelephone operable in a TDMA communication scheme. The switch circuit is disposed upon a plurality of tandemly-positioned ceramic substrates having transmission lines disposed upon one of the ceramic substrates. The switch circuit alternately connects transmitter circuitry to an antenna or receiver circuitry to the antenna, thereby alternately to permit transmission or reception of signals generated by, or received by the radiotelephone. Because circuits disposed upon ceramic materials are of low insertion losses, the switch circuit is advantageously utilized to form a portion of the radiotelephone.

A thermal conductivity detector is formed in the substantially monolithic structure by depositing a conductive thick-film paste on the surface of one of the green-sheet layers to define a resistor in an exit channel of the micro-gas chromatograph column.

摘要： A multilayered microfluidic DNA analysis system includes a cell lysis chamber, a DNA separation chamber, a DNA amplification chamber, and a DNA detection system. The multilayered microfluidic DNA analysis system is provided as a substantially monolithic structure formed from a plurality of green-sheet layers sintered together. The substantially monolithic structure has defined therein a means for heating the DNA amplification chamber and a means for cooling the DNA amplification chamber. The means for heating and means for cooling operate to cycle the temperature of the DNA amplification chamber as required for performing a DNA amplification process, such as PCR.

摘要： Multiphase ceramic materials for use in electronic applications such as patch antennas and multilayered ceramic devices may be fabricated by providing a novel combination of a glassy precursor material with operable amounts of a high purity cordierite material. The combined materials are sintered at appropriate temperatures, so that a non-glassy celsian type phase is formed. The materials of the instant invention, fabricated according to the method disclosed herein, demonstrate low dielectric constant (K) and low electrical loss (high Q) characteristics.

摘要： A first layer of titanium or tin is vapor deposited upon opposing major surfaces on the ceramic sensor. A second layer consisting of platinum, palladium or ruthenium is deposited over the first layer. The structure is then preferably annealed in air in order to crystallize the external layer to roughen the exterior surface and enhance adhesion. Lead wires, preferably made of Nichrome, are attached to the opposing surfaces by applying a conductive paste to the wire and surface functions, and firing the structure. The conductive paste provides a relatively low resistance, strong, mechanical bond between the lead wires and the roughened external surfaces of the structure. The first layer facilitates bonding of the second layer to the ceramic. The first and second layers cooperate to protect the ceramic from the potentially harmful glass frit contained in the conductive paste.
